I spoke with tom the other day I belive, the whole jets coming off this winter to paint the hull so may just send him the unit to inspect/repair. The rest of the boat was pretty trashed befor I got my hands on it so wouldnt be suprised if jet could use some work.

Ok that actually makes more sence too, I did use the single fel pro thick paper style gasket with the blue rings around each port and used some silicone as well but could deff se that blowing out befor the head gaskets. Im doing my weekly jegs order today for new electric fuel pump/filter/reg set up so I can use my saddle tanks so I'll scoop up some intake seal while im at it. Other then that the boats a beast I'll try to get some pics up tonight.

Well may have spoke too soon, I added the psi valve from hardin and works great. Also replaces blown water pump cover seal and flushed oil pan and filled with fresh oil. After a short run im still getting alot of h2o in the oil so thinking my head gaskets shot. Running dry exaust at the moment and not burning any thing or steaming out of pipes but water must be getting in somewhere along the line. And recomenddations on replacement gasket? Runing iron heads stock compression block was just decked and magnafluxed so should be legit there.

Jet Pumps / Jaccuzzi Wj Pump/Impeller help
« on: July 26, 2011, 05:43:58 PM »
Running a 74 18' challanger with built 455 and was pretty dissapointed after my first run this weekend. The motor runs great and strong at all rpms but boat dosnt really get moving till im almost 3/4 throttle and higher. Dosnt seem to be slipping but more like the thing is in first gear when it should be in 2nd or 3rd(i know they dont have gearbox just for comparison lol). I only was hitting 60ish on gps at almost wide open throttle on a 400hp motor. Im new to jet boats and finding out jaccuzzis arent the most fav pumps but was woundering if an impeller change, any kind of machine work, or if and energizer kit would be my best bet. I also want to add a place diverter but would like to wait to see if any kind of bowl swap might hlep me out first. I have tech know how and access to full machine shop. Thanks again for the input everyone, Josh

It is a jaccuzzi, yj I believe and I was supprised too at the amount of pressure it spit out at wot. I didnt notice anything pluging jet even took a look through the access plate inside of boat and everything looked ok to me. Will deff be adding relief valve and have to take a closer look at everything befor running again. And also as far as adding an ajustable temp valve mine has none that I know of....would that go on top of intake manifold?

Ran my first jet boat for first time today, its a 74 chalenger with 455 olds-jaccuzzi drive. Runs good but anytime i hit full throttle the cooling lines from jet pump blow off or water psi is so high it spray out of pump cover gasket. I notice a valve at back of boat near inlet. Is that to control flow and maybe turn it down a little of is there some sort of regulator I should get. Thanks josh

Projects / bassett headers/water injection
« on: May 31, 2011, 02:18:14 PM »
have a new project and first set of water injected bassatt over transom headers....problem is they are rusted out and need to replace the sections where the water lines bolt up. Dose anyone know what size bungs to replace these with and also what kind of fitting is used to screw into them? Any input would be great. Thanks

Thanks for the pics and input, should really help me out. So if I understand right I should be able to pull the motor mount bolts and slide motor forward while lifting till splined shaft slides out and im good to go. Also was curious if anyone on here know of a good parts source for bb olds motors. There a little harder to come by then bbc to say the least. Mainly need a good gasket kit and prob some crank bearings if I need to grind it down.
