Yeah. That's the one. It's still for sale... it runs perfect. Starts every time. No need to pump the gas pedal or anything. I figured if it doesn't sell this summer I should keep it and drop in the KILL motor  >:D

Boat Showcase / Nordic Pickle Fork
« on: August 20, 2012, 09:18:57 PM »
I have been working on this boat over the last year. Figured I'd finally post a couple of pics. I also wanted to say thanks to everyone for sharing all their knowledge on here. It has been very helpful. The first pic was pretty much how I bought the hull. Hopefully I can find some other Nordic Pickle Fork owners on this site. My boat is a 1978 and it is the original gel coat. Here is the quick run down of the boat:
New 454 with B&M Blower
850 DP Holley
Basset Wet Headers
Berkeley pump with pro load grate, droop, and place diverter
All new interior
All new electrical
All new Hardin Marine stainless steel gauges

Hope you guys like.

Thanks for the leads in the right direction. That link is very helpful. And the advice on fattening up the secondaries is also in line with the link.

454 stock bore, 8.5:1 compression, stock cam and  oval heads, 850 double pumper. Motor is stock and the blower is a B&M 177. The instructions claim 5 to 7 psi of boost. What it is doing is backfiring and shutting off when you crack open the secondaries. So cruising around it is fine. But when you really get on it  it starts moving good and then backfires and shuts off. Any useful information would be greatly appreciated.

Ok everybody I decided to start back to square one with my 850 double pumper. My boat is a 1978 Nordic pickle fork with a mostly stock 454 with a small b&m blower. I am running a summit 130gph electric fuel pump. Bassett headers. Berkeley pump. Where should I start on the jetting of the carburetor? What size accelerator pumps? Initial timing? Hopefully a couple of you guys with blower motors can help me establish a baseline. Thanks for your help and time.

Need some help trying figure out my problem. 1978 Nordic pickle fork. Fresh 454 with a 177 B&M blower. Newly rebuilt Holley 850 dbl pumper. Bassett header. Took boat out for 1st wet test seemed to run fine under normal driving. The minute you stab the gas the boat backfires and shuts off. Boat has a berkely pump with a place diverter. People are saying the carb is too rich others are saying too lean. I really need help. Any good info you guys can send will be greatly appreciated. Timing is static at 26 deg full advance. Fuel pressure is set at 6psi. Blower is capable of 5-7lbs of boost.
