That sucks Blue. Too bad your little guy is too small to handle a BB gun. He could have a field day quieting the neighborhood down!!! As far as the roaches go..that's a tough one. Once them little buggers make a home, they're there.

I'm surprised your association allows you to park a trailer on the street at all. The ass-wipes at my city hall won't even let me keep my boat in MY driveway for more than 48 hours! I raised hell at a couple of city council meetings trying to fight it and all I got was asked to leave by the sheriff's deputy...
Now the boat is stuffed in the garage, rendering the garage useless for anything else.

...You say it regulates to a point?  At what point do you need a regulator on a carbed motor?

A mechanical pump will only pump as fast as the engine is turning. So when at idle, it's not working very hard. When RPM/demand goes up, the pump starts moving some fuel.(Old auto pumps used to stop pumping when line pressure built up to a set pressure and would start pumping when the pressure fell back off, although I don't know if the Clay Smith pumps do this or not) An electric pump pumps like crazy all the time. That's what I meant by 'self regulates'.

I feel that you should always run a regulator in a high perf application . The best regulators are bypass style IMO. That way, there's nothing between your pump and your carbs.

I have a couple of questions:

I see you've decided on a carb. What kind of set-up is Quick Fuel putting on it(referenced or not, PV #'s, jet sizes?)? You know, I've been wanting to update my carbs and now you're a dealer for them...

I see when you removed the 'old' engine, you lifted it with one of those carb plates from the blower. Is this a good idea? Have you done this before? I was going to make up a dual carb plate for my junk but instead opted to make a set of cables that bolt to the heads. I was afraid the load on the blower case would distort it and make trouble for me. Any comments?

That's hard to say. I installed the rebuilt pump with the blower motor into a new to me hull all at once. I did notice a difference when I replaced the wear ring after I tore up the first one though. I couldn't even get the damn thing out of the hole before. The pump would just spin out. Now I can damn near flat foot it with no cav problems.

Dammit man! Jethro had let me borrow that manual and a couple of others he had about five years ago. I had mentioned how I wished I could score some of my own and he told me to give 'em back...And he gave them to you! Wait 'til I see him tonight!!!

Ok, so I searched the HD and couldn't find the pics of the above boat anywhere. I know they're on there somewhere, just can't find them. I did come across some other Dragstar pics though. Judging from these photos, the above boat either has a heavily modified bottom or is not a Dragstar at all.

This one is owned by a guy up in Colusa and runs in the ME class(if I remember right) @ Red Bluff every year. It's named "A Little Rascal's Ex" It was once the "Duel in the Sun" boat that held a NDBA record of something like 110 MPH. It was once owned by a guy named Wally Albright, who was a child actor in the Little Rascals shows(Notice the ME king sniffing out the competition ):

There are electric jetovator controls. Finding one may be difficult though. If I remember right, they have a small motor and a rack and pinion system that connects to the cable. If you could find one, it may be a less expensive alternative than buying a new Place hydraulic system.
