Shit!! Sorry guys I lost my ways of Internet for awhile! :banghead: I am going to the machine shop where my engine is located on Friday to take some pictures. Are you in Sacramento this week Lakesonly?

No they did not re use the same pistons, everything was new, no! There's no sand in the block! I'm thinking the guy didn't give enough clearance or tolerance for the cylinder/piston expansion! When you say signs of detonation what do you mean? I k ow the headers are black on the inside, same with the exhaust ports on the heads, and the plugs were nice and dark also, there's no way this was running lean.

So here we go, just had my 429 built, had about 11 hours on the motor when I heard a little tick, took it to the shop ends up being a bad roller lifter that scored the cam a little.. Upon bottom end inspection, the builder calls me and says we've got bigger problems, 3 Out of the 8 pistons were literally blue and scored to shit right through the rings as well, and the rest were mildly scored.. The tops of the pistons were covered in carbon, just the sides looked they got hot, I've had the motor for about 60 days at this point and a total of 11 hours on it. The motor builder is trying to tell me that I ran it to lean that's why this happened. Keep in mind that I changed nothing on this motor just pulled it out with a broken crank, had it rebuilt, and put it back in. The pistons that were pulled out of this motor were near perfect after 8 years of solid abuse.any input on this would be very helpful!!

81 mph was my max gps. My buddy's boat is 2-3 mph faster but can't hold it for more than few seconds because the turbos get hot

Heres a video from havasu last year, my buddy's boat is the orange one, one of gale banks first mess arounds with turbos.. It's got his signatures all over it. Mines the white one.

I've got the whole msd 6al box, coil, Distributer, wires, it's got the round dials to adjust the  1st step rev limiter, and second step 1* advance and retard, One more thing.. Do they make a pressure sensitive valve for the water injected headers? I'm sick of reaching back and opening it up and closing it, I've gotten water in my oil from leaving it open at idle I guess??

Checked the valves. Checked the compression, everything is good, I had a lot of carbon build up on the pistons, 3 of my 8 new spark plugs are turning black, welded the headers back up, took it to the lake, it's running good, sounds good, still missing the 300 Rpms. Is it possible that my msd ignition is taking a shit? Do they get weak over time? Also a couple of my plug wires arent snapping on to the plugs. Would that create a weaker spark?? Oh and how the hell do you post pics??

I'm new to this so please excuse my f ups!  :banghead: I just had my 429 CJ rebuilt from the ground up, I broke the crank last august, new pistons, rods, crank, (forged this time) bored etc.. Full roller motor, the guy said to break it in drive it, I said ok. Here are my issues 1st time I go out the starter fried, went and got one from the auto store put it on cranked the motor in reverse. Blew some flame out my carb. Pulled the carb checked the power valves etc everything was good or so I thought.. I go out again, it's sputtering.. I change the plugs change the oil runs perfect..5600 rpms, 84 gps, love it. I park it.2 days later I head to lake Oroville for fourth of July put my boat in the water, warm it can't get more than 5300-5400 rpms out of it.. I figure conditions elevation or whatever.. Then I'm haulin ass back in to camp about 5300  let off the gas it and all of a sudden it's running radical missing and blowing some black smoke shut it down and 2 foot flames come out of my basset headers for about 15 sec.. I get towed in tried starting it and I had to have my foot in it to keep it running still the same feeling like it's flooded to shit.. Next morning.. I start it. Runs like nothing ever happened. Still at 5300-5400. Now I've talked to a guy he seems to think I may have cracked a piston?? Oh and in the mean time my headers cracked on the number one cylinder, anybody with any similar stories or some input would be great! I have a built berkley with a bronze impeller I believe it's an A. My hull is a 79 sleek craft tunnel sst. Any help or input would be awesome!
