Trailers / bearing buddies goin gye bye

What do you do if you keep loosin bearing buddies? bought the boat a couple weeks ago and all but one bearing buddy was the same. Lost the first one on the first trip out, replaced it, it did need to be coaxed in with a hammer and a block of wood as stated in the instructions. Then lost the new one on the second trip out, anybody have any suggestions on what to do? Its obvious this has been an ongoing problem because the other three bearings are capped off with the trailer buddys which don't need a bearing bra.

any suggestions?

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Starving for fuel?

Took the boat to pyramid yesterday and it was acting up. Seemed to me like lack of fuel.

Its a 74 spectra v-drive with a 454 chevy, holley 750 DP and mechanical holley fuel pump. The first time at Castaic it seemed to run great but I was just cruising around, thought I felt it lag a few times after running at WOT for a quick burst, but couldn't tell cuz it was windier then shyt. This weekend was dragging around some tubers at about 2000 rpm and it started slowing down, not stopping just slowing, so I put my foot into it and the engine would almost die. I would take my foot off it and it would catch and continue running rough. Later in the day I was idiling around for 5-10 mins and decided to take off, about halfway onto plane it started acting sluggish and started slowing down, put my foot into it and it started to cut out, took my foot off of it and let it idle for a couple more minutes. Then took off again and it was fine, cruised the lake twice with no problems, kept my foot out of it tho.

So that's what I got goin on and lookin for advice. I ordered a fuel pressure gauge so I can see what, if anything its reading at certain times.

My dad had a similar problem which was when he ran WOT the fuel pump couldn't keep up and essentially had no fuel pressure showing on the gauge. He installed an electric fuel pump and that solved the problem. He has the same engine/carb/fuel pump setup but its a jet

Im replacing the 1/4" hardline running from the pump to the carb with 3/8 and replacing the fuel filter.

Wondering if theres anything else I could check before the fuel pressure gauge arrives, or if you got any other suggestions?

SoCal Lakes / good lake for skiing?

Im new to the so cal lake scene, been spoiled up at the sacramento deltas most my life, and am now getting into the local scene. Whats a good lake for skiing that doesnt always get blown out by wind chop? Been to castaic in the past, but no matter what its always windy. If its got decent coves to relax in thats a plus, but mostly lookin for input on where to find glassy water.

Any help you guys can give would be appreciated. Someone told me pyramid wasnt bad and worth the extra 28 miles roundtrip. Whadaya think?

im not opposed to a little extra car time to get to a calmer lake

Hulls / 1973 glencoe specs

Was wonderin if anybody could inform on the weight and ride characteristics of a 1973 glencoe deep v jet. Is it a strong hull, does it have full length stringers? lookin for a boat thats heavy and can handle choppy lake water. My internet search didnt reveal much, so im turning to the pros. Any info you guys can give would be appreciated.

Hulls / 89 21 ft commander open bow

Familys looking at pickin up a 21ft commander open bow and was wondering how they run in the lake through the chop, are they heavy enough for a small crowded lake or should i look elseware?

any info you guys got on them would be appreciated. tried the search function and didnt have much luck on this particular topic.

Hulls / Mize barracuda bottom

Was lookin at a boat today and the tag said mize barracuda bottom, sacramento ca. Its a project and want to know some info on the boat before i drop the cash.
Anybody know any info on this boat or where i could find it.
Interested to know the weight and how this boat handles on a busy lake. Couldnt locate the HID or the US coast guard tag so no help there.
