I may be picking up a 1996 ultra bubble deck on tues, the owner told me it had a weird chatter knock type noise at idle, I went and checked the boat out today, he hooked up water and started it up for me, I only heard the noise once just at idle, sounded as if the impellor shaft was jumping around in say a worn out type bushing or bearing, the pump is a set back berkley, not sure which model but it was a split bowl with a fairly small examine hatch type lid on the outside of the hull, he showed me reciepts of 600+ dollars spent on rebuilding the pump just before last season, only concern I have of the boat, it has a tom papp blown big block in it and runs in the 80mph range, just seeing if its a big issue or a normal type noise? Thanks for any input

Thinking about heading there instead of mead, less hassle and save me 400 in diesel, anyone going out, I just got my pile up and going, would like to see more classics out there.

New to this forum and boats in general, pick this up at the beginning of the summer for a grand, brought it home and soon realized I was going to tear it completley down, I have a 460 ford, dove-c block and heads, ported and polished gasket matched runners, healthy cam, offenhauser tunnel ram with 2 predator carbs, basset wet twisties, and a custom scoop I made at my shop. The boat launches hard out of the hole but only does 55 or so on the gps, I'm looking to pick up a wj energizer kit for my jacuzzie pump, any other suggestions on what I can do for improvments will be greatly appreciated.
