« on: August 06, 2013, 09:57:50 PM »
Here are some pics from the Long Beach races.  I took about 900 so I need to go through them and pick some out.  Wanted to throw up some of the river racer jets.  These are from Saturday.  (the only day I went)

The No Wake Zone / My seat caught on fire...
« on: July 07, 2009, 12:00:16 PM »
We were out in the Blythe area over the weekend and someone noticed smoke coming from the other side of a pontoon boat.  When I looked over my boat was the only one over there so I kinda ran/swam as fast as I could over to it to splash it out.  Some other people saw it too and came over to help splash it out.  My buddy that was riding with me had his lighter in a little back pack with his smokes and a few other things and I guess it blew up and caught the seat on fire.  No real damage other than the back of the seat and no one got hurt so it was nothing that a few more beers couldn't take of.  I was sure scared for a little while until I saw that it was just the seat.  Has anyone ever had this happen before?

Also, when I was towing my boat out there the rear cross member of my trailer broke at the light and was just about dragging on the ground.  I was able to get it fixed for $150 when I could have fixed it at work for free.  Despite my troubles I still had a good weekend.

Whats the difference?  Does anyone run car tires on their trailers?  Any benefit either way?

The No Wake Zone / My river park sucks...
« on: November 20, 2008, 08:43:19 PM »
I got my monthly statement with a notice that my rent was being raised.  I kinda thought they would with the times but the next page said that they are switching to a lease instead of month to month.  But they want to be paid for the whole year up front.  I would sign the lease if I could pay month to month but I can't come up with that money by January 1st.  Can they do this?  My park is in Ehrenberg, AZ if that makes any difference.  I think this friggin' sucks.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Fuel lines hit valve cover
« on: August 20, 2008, 09:09:05 PM »
I was mounting up my carb and fuel lines today and the fuel lines hit the valve covers.  I have an Edlebrock Torker II intake that twists the carb at an angle on the motor which is pushing the fuel lines into the valve cover.  I have been collecting parts for a while now and I am just getting things together.  I really don't want to buy new fuel lines but I was thinking of a carb spacer.  I think 1" should make it fit just fine.  I have a little tube bender that I use for bending brake lines at work but I think that would be kinda cheesy to bend them.  Are those spacers good or bad?  I build axles for a living, I am not really a motor guy.  Thanks for any help in advance.   :banghead:

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Starter doesn't fit
« on: August 18, 2008, 10:25:19 PM »
I was trying to put my starter in today and it wont slide into place.  I have a BBC on a 4 point mount system and it seems that the bottom part of the cone is hitting the casting of the motor mount.  I am wondering if the motor has just settled down a little bit so I cant slide it in or if the motor mount casting is just off.  Should I just grind the casting away a little bit or should I loosen the mount and try to lift the motor up a bit?  I bought all the parts from one guy but I don't know if they were ever put together.  I would appreciate any help.  Thanks.

Random Boat Parts For Sale / Round Aluminum gas tanks
« on: August 07, 2008, 05:47:56 PM »
Bought these for the Kona but didn't use them after all.  $100 bucks for the pair and three mounts.  The mounts are a little big but can be modified to fit better.  8 x 48  The fill is 2" to center from the end.  Should hold 10.5 - 11 gallons each.  I tried posting pics but they are too big.  I will try to resize in a bit.  Or I can email pics.

Jet Pumps / Jet plumbing questions
« on: August 03, 2008, 10:13:18 PM »
I am trying to finish up my project and I can't figure out the plumbing for the jet.  I am running a 12JC pump and a BBC with Nicson through transom exhaust.  I read a previous thread http://www.socaljetboats.com/index.php?topic=4220.0 and the pic from luckie stiff helps but would I do something different for through transom exhaust?  Please help.

Thanks,
Rob

The No Wake Zone / Wisdom Teeth
« on: July 01, 2008, 02:49:38 PM »
Since I was 18 my wisdom teeth come in and out.  Well now I am 31 and I think they are trying to stay and it phucking hurts.  My glands in my neck hurt and I have a sinus infection that really sucks and pain in my jaw from my wisdom teeth.  I think it's all related.  Anyone else have this when their teeth came in?

I am still going to the river this weekend.  Enough beer and I wont be bitching about it anymore.

Gelcoat / Paint / Fireberglass Repair / Cheap Paint Job
« on: May 21, 2008, 05:26:00 PM »
What is the cheapest and quickest way to get a boat painted that would be good enough for one season?  I am thinking of picking up a boat that needs lots of TLC and I just need it to look halfway decent for the season and then I will tear it back down and really get into it.

Hulls / Shot Stringers
« on: May 19, 2008, 09:36:07 PM »
I was just about ready to mount my motor in my project boat and when I drilled through the stringers the wood came out looking pretty soft.  I don't think it is safe to mount the motor as it is.  I thought about bracing it up with some aluminum but that will be a lot of work and money to still have a shotty stringer and it could still need to be replaced.  How much is it to have someone replace stringers and is it even worth it for the type of hull?  (1982 Condor Semi V)  I like the shape of the hull but I dont care what I have really.  I just want it to float this summer.  You can see the boat in the project section as 82 Condor.  Any help would be appriciated.

Thanks.

Projects / Motor install
« on: May 12, 2008, 03:03:37 PM »
I am going to install a BBC with a 4 point mount into a boat that had a 460 on a three point set up.  I was told to have the motor 1 degree down from the pump.  Does this sound right to you guys?  Also I was wondering how far back to set the motor: do I install the shaft and but it up to the pump or do I leave a little play?  Thanks for any help.

Hulls / No hull ID on boat
« on: May 03, 2008, 04:05:08 PM »
I bought a project boat awhile back and I am just now realizing that it does not have the hull VIN on the back of the right transom and no metal ID tag mounted on the inside.  The registration went thru fine and is all in my name now.  Should I be worried when I take this out?  Do you guys think that anyone will even question it?  I will only take the boat to the Blythe area of the river where there are never really any cops.  Or is there a way to fix this some how?

The No Wake Zone / Hello Everybody
« on: April 28, 2008, 03:01:23 PM »
I am new here so I thought I would say hi.  I stumbled accross this forum looking for parts for my project boat.  So far it seems like a good place to get info on jet boats.  Currently I am working on a 1982 Condor jet.  I picked it up about a month ago and it is just a hull and a pump.  I have already found a complete engine and motor mounts for it from this forum and I havent even been on here for 24 hours.  I will post some pics up soon.  I plan on having this in the water by June on a broke budget.  All of my friends and I go to the Blythe area of the river.  Quite a few of us are in the Colorado River Oasis park in Ehrenberg AZ.  Hope to see you guys out there.  If anyone has any info on Condor boats please let me know.  I cant really find too much about them.   Thanks.
