Jet Pumps / Steering tube install...
« on: May 27, 2014, 12:03:36 PM »
How do you properly install a steering tube with a new grommet? How tight do you tighten the tube nuts to the grommet? Do you just center the new grommet to the transom housing hole for the steering tube? Any info is appreciated...

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Installing 454 BBC
« on: May 09, 2014, 10:42:56 AM »
Hey everyone. Getting ready to install my 454 BBC after installing new stringers, floor and new paint. Of course  going to have to drill new mounting holes for a 4 point system. Any advice on properly doing this would be much appreciated. Alignment, leveling, drilling techniques? Also, mounting hardware used with new 2 X 6 stringers? Pics of the new stringers attached...thanks in advance!!!

So I asked you all your opinion on what direction to go with my Bassett headers to give them a new look. Decided to go ceramic coat and I'm glad I did... They look pretty sick. Can't wait to get em on the BBC!!!

Projects / 1976 Fantasy jet boat project
« on: April 05, 2014, 09:39:55 PM »
I've posted a few times but still fairly new to this badass site. Bought my first jet in Oct. and decided I wanted to paint it...couldn't stand the baby blue bass boat look. Anyway, pulled the seats, carpet and motor and viola....a hack job of a repair and let's just say...FUCK!! So fast forward to now and new stringers are in as well as the floor! Pics are of the float when bought, what I found and where  at now. I repair CNC Machinery so wood and fiberglass is Chinese to me...lol

Recently purchased a 1976 fantasy jet boat with a Chevy 454 big block with a Berkeley pump and Bassett headers. The hull is getting an overhaul as we speak. Motor just waiting to drop back in...which leads to my issue...the Bassett headers silver/gray coating sucks! Chroming is out. To much $. I'm thinking black but what type of application is best?? Powder coat? High temp paint? Thank you for your suggestions in advance! Pics of my boat pre facelift attached
