Boats For Sale / 21’ tarva
« on: January 02, 2020, 04:28:12 PM »
Mini day cruiser. Motor was refreshed by Hardcore1 on this site. Runs great  460 ford, all cables and wires replaced. U joints replaced and Berkeley jet was check out and pump is good. New battery, holly carb and alternator. This boat is river ready and will not leave you on the beach. Great family boat. Comes with anchor, vests, and 3 person tube. Interior is a 6 and if you take care of it it’ll last a few more seasons. Trailer needs new brake lines, it was rewired and the tires are good. Rims are just ok, sprayed. with plastic dip.
Will trade for pre 75 ride, 4 wheel drive truck Jeep or suv in good running condition

Hey all. I got this boat on a trade on a chopper I built. its a 20' Tarva Berkeley jet  Got 3 runs on it and ended up with a hole in my #2 piston.
Took it in to a local shop and they said it looks like it had been rebuilt but not to marine specs.
doing a mild cam, intake, carb, ignition  and dyno im looking at 6200. Thats a mild rebuild maybe getting 400 hp.
does this sound about right? I just want a nice family boat more on reliability than hot rod.
Ive gone into the shop a few times and it seems like every time I go in the price creeps up a few hundred bucks. it's just tore down and I haven't committed to the rebuild in the shop yet.
Thanks in advance!

Jet Pumps / Boat just seems to be dogging.
« on: July 22, 2017, 09:17:48 PM »
I've got a 20' 1977 Tarva with a 460 ford, Berkeley jet, holly 750 carb.
Was out today with the family and  at 3500 rpm towing 2 little girls on a airhead raft and was at best going 25.
Motor seems good.  It's not over heating or smoking.
Pump was clear when I got my hand in the intake.
What should I be looking at
I know it's not gonna be the fastest boat on the water but she just seems dogging.

So I took my new to me 77 Tarva with a 460 ford out to Blythe to drop into the water and see if everything was water right and to finish doing some trailer work while the boat was off.
She's water right and the jet seems good but my voltage meter on the dash never went over 10. So as much as I wanted to get down the river ,I never left the cove.
I pulled the alt and it was a 37 amp Motorola. Had it tested and was told it was dead. Got a replacement 1 wire marine alternator fired it off and I'm still showing 10 amps on my dash meter. But my tester is showing 12 on the battery.
If my battery is showing 12 shouldn't my dash meter be reading 12 too?

The No Wake Zone / Need a carb for my 460 ford
« on: March 23, 2017, 03:11:29 PM »
Need a carb for my 460 ford. I just bought a new boat and looking at the carb it's not a marine carb.  It's a 360 Holley double pumper. What would a good replacement carb. Thanks.

Just got ourselves a 1977 tarava 19' with a 460 and Berkeley jet.  Looking forward to a lot of time out at the river.
She'll need some cleaning and the trailer needs some work but looking forward to getting the kids whipped behind her this spring.
