Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Oil Pressure cutoff switch

93' 454 Indomar Magnum Engine - Stock
Anyone have a part number?  Mine is a 3 prong, only 2wires hooked up to hot side of electric fuel pump.  It is mounted under the wiring block.
I found some universal ones at Jegs-
Took a shit in the garage right before getting ready to launch. Just jumpered it for now. But a hr of troubleshooting to find problem and chase 3 different color wire spices and in-line fuse in the loom running to it-  :banghead:
Are you all running one or getting rid of this failure point?

So did some reading and looks like Easy-Off oven cleaner is the way to go-
Any tips / what to expect ?
I am planning on taping off the area surrounding and below to keep the rest of the hull protected-
Will I need a plastic scraper or just some rags and elbow grease.
Any prep after to clean up area to put new vinyl numbers on? Always just used soapy water and squeegee-

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Oil Pressure fluctuating
« on: June 23, 2014, 10:17:00 AM »
Hey all-
So got the my new boat and ran well my first time out. Though I noticed oil pressure was all over from 20-45. Nothing I would normally see I figure if all was perfect. Seems like if I let off the oil would go up, cruzing (3500 rpm) and it would lower to 25, but creep up and then down. Not a lot of chop.
Checked the oil once we got back on land and looked like it was low on oil, nothing on dip stick,  my bad I should have checked before we launched, but new boat was just serviced. Yet checked again in the morning and only 1/2 qt low. Previous owner was saying 6 1/2 qt. to change oil.  Now I think most BB Chevy take 7 qt with filter?  I am assuming that it was low, but seems like it is not draining back? or it was just low and the dipstick is not accurate. This is all stock from what I can tell. Oil was very clean, no lifter tapping from low oil pressure as I have seen and heard before! Assuming it is a Hyd cam.  My plan next time out is to put a mechanical gauge to verify, change oil and put 7qts.
Anyone see this before?
Also I will be getting a little heat in the motor, as the gauge never moved and there is nothing regulating the water as I have read some folks doing here. So will start reading a lot of those threads.
Overall very Happy with the purchase even if if I have to put a fresh bullet in it over the winter!

thanks-

The No Wake Zone / Newbie here- Looking at this Boat!
« on: June 10, 2014, 03:01:46 PM »
Hey all! Been cruising this board for the last 6 mos and you all seem very helpful.  :o  Been looking for my first Jet Boat (practical vs. really want that one), though I've been around them since I was 10, mostly Sanger Hydro's in mid late 70's. I have had 2 Polaris' for 17 years now and worked on my Dad's Tri hull and old Aluminum fishing boats since I was using them since I was a kid.
So I was at the river this weekend and ran across this Essex. There does not seem to be a lot of them out there in a 20.5, just going by all my google searches /
Looking for a little advice, comments, what to look for, value, etc.
It is a 1993 Essex Espirit Magnum, 454, Berkeley jet, hyd jetovator, dual batteries, Hydraulic deck lid, all original interior, well maintained (from what I can tell), new starter, alt, rebuilt carb, tune up. It is a 2 owner boat and always garaged.  I can get it for $5,000.00
