The No Wake Zone / Fuel Storage

Thinking about storing bulk fuel out at our place in parker in the detached shed. The shed is covered, on the north side of the structure and has a couple vents (2 on the floor and one at the peak). I figured a pressure relief valve would be in order with the extreme heat. Planning on getting a steel 55 gal drum and a 12v electric transfer setup.
Does anyone else do this? If so, what is some tips/tricks?
Is it a bad idea?

WTB / Wood Skis

Looking to buy a couple wood skis. Going to make a couple signs for the river house. People on Ebay think theirs skis are made of gold plus id have to pay shipping and there hasn't been a lot of options on craigslist. They don't need to be in good condition or anything since Ill be removing the bindings and sanding.

So if you have some old skis in your garage that are wood let me know.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Single cable Morse helm shaft adapter

I have a morse single cable helm on the hallett that has a morse bezel and steering wheel adapter. I'd like to run this (see pic). Can I run that or do I have to run the morse style bezel with shaft adapter. I am going for this look (see pic 2). Or do I need a different helm to run billet shaft adapter?

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Fuel pressure issues

Ford 460 stock internals (except the cam) with a holly DP 750.

Went to fire the boat up before the trip and gas shot up out of primary vent tube. So I checked the floats and all was good as well as the needle and seats. Cranked it again and another geyser of fuel blew thru the vent tube. So I switch the primary and secondary needle/seats and the same thing happened again.

Check the holly website and they said anything over 7 psi will cause a flooding situation. I was at 8 when cranking. So I got another fuel pump rated for 6.5 psi and all was good.

Went out for some bug runs and at 4K RPMs I would lose all pressure, but if I stayed under 4K rpm all was good. Ran into Parker and got some needle/seats and put the old 8 psi pump on and all was normal.

My question is how is everyone else configuring their fuel delivery? Are my needle/seats gonna go bad every year? Should I just keep some on hand? Or should I get a 8+ psi fuel pump and regulate it down?

I've search here on the boards and didn't come across a thread with the same issue as mine. I know the different options out there with self regulating fuel pumps, but I'm fine with a mechanical, or do I need a higher volume pump with a lower PSI?

I'm just a little confused with holly saying 7 psi is bad, but my I need something rated at 8 psi to run over 4K.

Thoughts?

Interior / Attaching side panels

Going to be doing my interior soon. I am adding some small side panels to cover up my tanks and transom. I need to build the panels for the upholstery guy, but before I start I wanted to see what options I have for attaching the panels to the gunnel. I have seen guys screw them in with beauty rings or have bolts stick out from behind and go through the gunnel with a nut.

In my dads old boat he had a clip that slide behind the gunnel. Kind of looked like a large aluminum money clip.

Any other ideas? Pics would help too

SoCal Lakes / Canyon Lake

Looking for first hand info on canyon lake. My wife's parents might move there and if I can reap the benefits of the lake then even better.

I saw the following on the website.
-Must get annual boat inspection
-Must have $300k in liability insurance
-Must have the HOA on your insurance
-$40+$240 (for anything over 25 HP) fee
-And there is a noise restriction

So my questions are...am I good with over transom headers that are water cooled with baffles?

Is the lake nice and worth it?

How is the overall community?

How is the HOA?

Any first hand info would be appreciated. Thanks

The No Wake Zone / Getting in the boat

Hey guys.....19' hallett bubble deck with over the transom headers. My wife and kids have a hard time getting in the boat from deep water. The kids are easy...I just yank them up. The wife is a little different. She doesn't have the upper body strength to push herself up. I was thinking of making a rope step that hooks on the underside of the gunnel.

Before I go out and reinvent the wheel, what is everyone else doing?

Gelcoat / Paint / Fireberglass Repair / Patch job?

Got this patch job (I think) on my boat. It completely bugs me. It's nice and flush, but the color is off. Anything I could do to match the area or is this a job for the professionals?

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Rewiring...looking for ideas

Gonna be rewiring the hallett in the next few months. Starting the planning stages and wanted to see if anyone has or has seen any different ideas for mounting the terminal block. We have all seen them off the back of the motor, but I was wondering if there is a better location since I'm going to rewire.

Currently I have this aluminum plate mounted to the back of the motor and underneath is the volt regulator, battery switch, and terminal block. I'd like to relocate for a couple reasons, mostly because it's ugly and I like the way the boat looks without this big plate (see pic).

The boats a 76 hallett bubbledeck 460 berk JC.

Hulls / Access hole under dash

Would it be completely horrible if I cut a small access hole under the dash to allow storage of life jackets? Other boats I've had and friends boats have them, but I wasn't sure if the hole boat would fall apart or not. I'm gonna be doing the carpet soon.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Voltage Regulator Wiring - Ford 460

Hey guys,
Just bought this 18' Hallett and Im trying to work out all the bugs. Turns out my alternator that is brand new (just bought it today after I had the old one tested) is not charging my battery. I have a feeling the wiring from the alternator to the voltage regulator isn't correct and I am finding some conflicting information online. I did look at the wiring diagrams here, but they do not include a voltage regulator.

Alternator: Duralast 7078, has no internal regulator, has a battery, Stator, Field, and ground terminals.
Voltage Regulator: VR-428 has I,A,S, and F terminals.

Alt Stator wire connected to VR S terminal
Alt Field wire connected to VR F terminal
Alt Batt wire connected to nothing (i know)
Alt ground connected to battery ground

Does the Alt batt wire connect to the VR "A" terminal and the VR "I" go to ignition?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
