Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Issues with Milky oil
« on: September 07, 2016, 08:47:14 AM »
Hey guys,

Having an issue with my 455...rebuilt the engine before the season, it has a torker manifold a xe274 comp cam and its bored .30 over has exhaust logs. took it out in June got the milky oil issues...replaced the intake gasket and the head gaskets (thought it was the intake gasket, had a water trail in the front part of the intake valley) and I installed a pressure relief valve...set at 10psi. did all that then I ran it on the hose...no issues and then took it out to lost lake the sunday before labor day weekend...no water in the oil Did some good short runs. Took it to needles for labor day weekend...launched it (sat on the trailer for a minute or two) then did a good 8 or 10 minute run before I took it back to the beach...milk shaked after that run (saw it cause it came out the breathers on the valve covers). What could this be...the oil temp was pretty hot felt it on the dip stick (don't have a oil temp gauge) engine didn't get past 110.

Jet Pumps / Berk jc 455 olds
« on: March 06, 2016, 10:09:23 PM »
Well today I finally opened up my pump for the first time...and the impeller is done. So i will be replacing that but i have a few questions... Some backround ive owned this boat for about two years and last season And rod bearing decided to let loose. It was a very mild motor (stocker) and the impeller is a A2 cut

Anyway my first question...
if the impeller is missing part of the fin would that mess up my rpm range...cause the engine would rev well past 5k and on take off it would rev high then level out, or a worn out wear ring or both

Second question... The rebuilt engine has 9 to 1 compression, xe274 comp cam with ka heads with a torker manifold will another a2 impeller be a good match for this engine?

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / 455 Intake gasket install
« on: June 30, 2015, 06:15:46 AM »
Ok I searched for a straight answer but couldn't find one...

I installed a new torker intake on my 455...well the gasket moved during the install process and water went right into the intake valley  :banghead: . Not a great feeling when you have to dump out 12qts of brand new oil. Anyway I was wondering if anyone used a "gasgacinch" type sealer around cylinder ports with rtv around the water ports or no rtv at all?

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / 455 what parts should I use
« on: March 13, 2015, 06:50:01 AM »
Hey guys wondering what I should do...I have a Tahiti 16' low pro with a 455 (which is out of a car) Has J heads...stock intake with a qjet. I picked up A set of KA heads, a cam(not sure of the size and going to have a machine shop check it out first of course) and a edelbrock torker manifold...I still need to get a new carb and a pan but my main question is what parts should I put on, cause Im not going to touch the bottom end...I just don't want to dive that deep right now and hopefully in one or two seasons I am going to completely rebuild it. Should I just drop that manifold and new carb on and use it until I rebuild it or? Any help would be great. Thanks!
