Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Nitrous......... Lil Help....
« on: March 30, 2016, 11:03:53 PM »
 Hello,
Who here runs nos on their boat?

I'm having a little problem past week with it, I can only get a 2-5 second burst with it when pushing the button and feel the nos kick in then it pops a little through the headers NOT violent then falls flat, I have timing set at 33, plugs are burning nice NO peppering or lean or rich, plugs are gapped right now at 32, we went from a 5-9 spread in jets and still does it.

we thought it might be the button and arming switch ( which were cheap low amp ones ) we switched those out to higher amps, but haven't taken boat out since sunday ( easter )

to see if that was the problem? I talked with a well known builder in my area he said bump gap down to 25, were gonna start off at 28 first, and plug the vacuum advance then try it out maybe tomorrow depending on weather. I tripled checked the wiring its fine and I am using a relay, we are stumped at this time what it could be? I'm even using a separate fuel pump electric holly blue with regulator and we flowed the fuel with a gauge for 61/2 pounds, and when we do hit the NOS its not dropping.

motor is a 468 BBC mild build, edelbrock performer 2.0 intake with a predator carb., Dist, 65,000 with a Mallory coil HEI 92 pump gas. I'm only wanting to squeeze 100-125 shot longer than 2-5 seconds.

Any other areas to check or suggestions?

Thanks for any info, or help

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Nitrous and fuel pumps....
« on: March 18, 2016, 07:19:30 PM »
Hello,
I finished up installing my NOS kit, we fire up the boat testing the fuel solenoid to see if my mechanical fuel pump would work, pressure dropped motor stumbled. after de arming it was fine, my friend said think you need to run a holly red or blue just for the nitrous only since it can't feed the carb and fuel solenoid at  same time. I run a fuel switch for both tanks so I can run on 1 tank then switch to other. then 1 main line to the mechanical pump,

MY question is: after the fuel filter from main line can I " Y " it off to feed the electrical pump then up to the NOS fuel solenoid? Then when I arm the NOS system it kicks on the electrical pump? It's not like im gonna be squeezing all day long just a cpl burst when im feeling excited lol. Then when I de arm the NOS system it kills the electrical pump, Does this sound about right?

Or does anyone else have a better idea? I DON'T want to run 1 tank just for nitrous.

BTW I can pick up a holly blue with regulator...

Also I'm running 125 shot according to edelbrock there plate runs 6.5 pounds?

Thanks for any help or suggestions, and if you have any diagrams would help? LOL

SoCal Lakes / Silverwood Lake...
« on: February 16, 2016, 07:07:39 PM »
Was reading threw this post about needing baffles on silverwood, I been going every other weekend depending on weather, testing stuff and I have NO problems at all, they don't even ask or look when you pay to get in, they just check the bildge area for water, so make sure if you go up there its dry or they won't let you on unless you have the green inspection tag then your good. I run open no baffles at all and mine is LOUD and never had a problem, we went up valentines day, was a few other boats and seadoos out, had a great time :)

Jet Pumps / Forward/Reverse cable....
« on: February 07, 2016, 10:12:29 PM »
I have a 18 ft manta ray jet boat with a panther in it, forward/reverse cable is getting stiff, seeing if anyone would know the length I need so I can order it without taking old one out before I get the new one, weather is nice right now so im still taking it out on the lake, my cable in it now uses a U anchor that goes over the cable to keep it secure near the handle if that matters? Thanks for any info,
