The No Wake Zone / Carlsbad Lagoon
« on: July 31, 2017, 02:27:00 PM »
Have any of you guys every taken your jet boat to the Carlsbad lagoon?  It's small, but I live near there and I've seen some nice smooth water there from time to time.

The No Wake Zone / What do you guys think of this Daycruiser?

I'm a newbie, and I'm looking for my first jetboat.  I've done some lurking around on this forum for a bit, and it's clear you guys know your business.  So I'd like to know your opinions on this 76 Fantasy Mini Daycruiser.

The positives from my view are that it's fairly clean and ready for the water.  The larger size also seems nice for my family (wife and daughter).  It's got the original gel coat without much wear on it.

The interior has some wear, but there are no cracks and very little sunburn.  On the negative side, this boat has a Jacuzzi YJ pump.  I've seen a bunch of posts saying to stay away from YJ pumps because of parts and performance and so on.  I was told that this YJ was improved with Dominator parts, but I'm not sure what that means, or if it is any great benefit.  It needs a bimini top and new tires on the trailer too.

I'd love to hear your opinions.  Should I look into this boat more, or be patient and wait for something with a Berkeley or Jacuzzi WJ pump?

The No Wake Zone / Thinking about getting into a jet boat
« on: June 07, 2017, 12:29:37 PM »
Hey everyone!

So I am new to boats (at least having one of my own...I've taken trips to the river and to mead and mojave several times), which by definition means I'm new to jet boats.  I'm interested in learning a thing or two before jumping in and getting one.  I've been working on classic cars for years and a dedicated DIYer.  I've looked around for a sticky that talks about things to avoid/look for when first getting into boating, but haven't found anything.  Am I missing it?  Or should I just poke around more and see what info you guys have offered to newbies like me?
