hi all, I purchased a 1974 glastron cv21 with a 455 olds berkeley jet. I do not have a boat history, so I basicly check oil and water flow and test the engine on the trailer with a water hose connection, and everything went fine. Then I put the boat in fresh water and had a 30 minutes trip, with different rpm, and was ok too, oil pressure and water temp in the range. I pulled the boat, and after a couple of days I found a big amount of oil in the bildge, and deepstick marked empty. Now I pulled the pump, and tomorrow I am going to pull the motor and try to understand from where is that massive oil leak, I assume it is a lower one (pan?), just because it took place after well after the engine run. Now what I would like to know is what are the essential jobs to do on the engine (it is in full stock setup, except for distributor) after having solved the oil issue. On several forum I read of water pressure (relief valve) and oil system (too much oil in valves): f.e. is it worthy thinking of new alluminium heads and intake manifold?
