Jet Pumps / Replacement diverter pump motor
« on: June 11, 2019, 05:10:11 PM »
Does anyone know if there is an aftermarket motor that will work with my place diverter hydraulic pump so that I don’t have to replace the whole thing?

Jet Pumps / Hydraulic to manual diverter
« on: June 04, 2019, 12:06:51 PM »
Hello i just got ahold of a used hydraulic place diverter off of a parts boat. After hooking everything up i found out that the electric motor for the hydraulic pump is bad.
Can i simply buy a cable and handle then install it on the same diverter? I noticed that the upper hole that mounts the cylinder is oval shaped. Will this need to be drilled out to accommodate a cable?

Thanks

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Canton pickup
« on: August 19, 2018, 04:56:41 PM »
So I am installing a new 460 canton oil pa n 18-760 with the 18-761 pickup. The support bracket for the pickup appears to mount on the center main cap bolt but the mounting hole is too small? Also the clearance to the bottom of the pan appears to measure about 3/4" which seems like too much.
Should i just drill out mounting hole or am I missing something? Would it be ok supported off the oil pump and no center support?

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / BBF Canton pan set up
« on: July 25, 2018, 07:05:14 AM »
Hey guys so I am doing a rebuild on my 460 and am going to be putting a new oil pan on it. The plan is to go with the Canton 18-760 marine pan. What are you guys using for oil pumps and pickups with this pan?

Thanks

Gelcoat / Paint / Fireberglass Repair / Mounting fuel tanks
« on: April 26, 2018, 03:10:29 PM »
So I pulled my two fuel tanks after going through several inline filters and still getting crap. Tanks were held in by some kind of spray foam almost like "Great stuff" foam. I'm thinking someone did this as a quick fix? Or is there some kind of product designed for mounting fuel tanks this way? The tanks are rectangle galvanized steel and I can see where it looks like they used to be secured with fiberglass on the front and towards the back on the bottom.
What would be the best way to reinstall these? Should I fiberglass them in or build some kind of a mount / strap?

Thanks

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / 76 eliminator set up
« on: April 20, 2018, 07:31:11 PM »
Just got my first boat spending some time getting it set up. 1976 Eliminator  460 Berkeley Jet. Supposedly has a little head work and a mild cam. Couple questions.
Just installed a weiand stealth intake and supposedly has a 750 carb. Would I be better off with a 850? Should I use a spacer?
Also I want to install a water pressure gauge will fuel pressure gauge work for water? Has anybody drilled and tapped a gauge Outlet on there water Outlet housing? Or should it be installed elsewhere?
Thanks

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Boat shopping

Looked at a jet boat the other day. I noticed that the motor has a front sump oil pan, so I'm thinking the motor likely came out of a truck? Is it a concern if the boat was ran like this? How important is a marine oil pan?

Thanks
