« on: May 23, 2009, 12:37:06 PM »
I have a pair of Glenwood log manifolds with risers for a 455 Olds. The risers are modified to accept 4" exhaust hose. The stainless tips are mitre cut and have internal rubber flappers. (one is missing) Two pieces of 4" soft wall exhaust hose about 13 inches long and 8 4" stainless hose clamps. Any takers? Make me an offer I cant refuse. Trade for BBF stuff ?

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / 455 Head Gasket Malfunction
« on: May 09, 2009, 04:11:17 PM »
Any of you 455 guys had trouble with head gaskets? I have a 11:1 455 that has been turning my motor oil milky for two seasons. It usually takes two or three trips for the oil to become bad enough to change. I have always blamed it on the t-valve for my headers but this weekend found a bad head gasket to be the problem. The intake manifold gasket was my second guess but when I pulled it off the gaskets were in perfect shape. The water was coming from one of the water passages right above the second bore (counting front to rear) on the left side. When the motor was rebuilt three years ago the block was decked and the heads milled so the surfaces should be perfect. From the looks of the gasket, water pressure not compression caused it to fail because the gasket pushed in to the bore where the water jacket was. Has anyone had this happen to them? Could the water pressure in the motor cause the head gasket to fail? The hole in the gasket looks like it restricted water flow because it was less than half the size of the entire water jacket. Should I drill or cut a bigger hole in the gasket where the water jackets are? I am thinking about running copper gaskets form Milodon. They say they are reuseable. Any ideas or suggestions?

Gelcoat / Paint / Fireberglass Repair / Real Wood Veneer
« on: April 27, 2009, 12:33:27 PM »
Hey,
Im new to the fourm and was wondering if anyone had experience puting a real wood veneer on the deck of an old jet boat. I have 75 Tahiti mini day cruiser that has the fake wood grain laid in to the jel coat. I want to redo the jel coat and laminate the real wood where the fake stuff was and at the same time redo the bass boat glitter stripes. Sounds like a pain in the ass but I think it would be bitchin to have an old boat that looks better than it did when it came out of the mold. Any Ideas or suggestions?
Thanks
