Boats For Sale / 1977 KONA 19' WITH BUILD OLDS AND BERK JET
« on: June 10, 2015, 04:20:10 PM »
Selling my 1977 Kona 19' Jet boat.  Seats 4+ comfortably.  Has olds 455 that has been bored out to a 468.  Heres engine build out list.... Comp cams 280H lopey camshaft, spec'd for the specific application, dual timing chain, full roller motor and aftermarket push rods and scorpion roller rockers.  All oil return galleys and feed ports have been bored to allow maximum oil circulation, which was a common issue with this motor, compression is 10.5/1 and all work was done by J & J Speed and marine in Ramona.  Motor has offenhauser valve covers and quadrajet intake manifold paired with a 850 holley marine carb with spark arrestor and scoop.  Has hardin marine exhaust logs and bell housing. Pump is a berkley j12e with an "a" cut stainless impeller.  Original gel coat is super clean, the interior is a 8/10.  Motor has 56 hours on it since the rebuild was completed, top speed recorded was 62 on gps.  Has a CD/AM/FM head unit with 4 speakers that sound pretty sweet. Comes with a set of make your own black 9mm plug Also, some of the guages dont work.

Asking $4500 OBO - or trade for truck of equal value

Hello Everyone,

I just picked up a new river float and am stoked on the hull and colors. The boat has a rebuilt olds 455 that has been bored .030 over. It's a 77 19' Kona. For some reason I've got fuel but no spark. I've looked at wiring diagrams and have tried figuring it out.  Motor will turn over, and Ive got fuel, but no spark. I tried bypassing the resistor, thinking that may be the issue, but that didn't help. Tried different coils, thinking the Mallory one might be bad, but the coils aren't even producing spark. I used a test light to make sure I was getting juice when the key is on. I'm not too sure what I'm missing. The ground to the block is good, and all of the wiring seems to be connected properly and there aren't any cuts or Knicks in the wiring. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!  I'm sure it's something simple, but I'm stumped.  :banghead:

Projects / 1976 Kona 21' Project
« on: April 22, 2011, 02:47:00 PM »
Hello Everyone,

It has been a while.....I picked up a new project boat.   :D But the floor and motor are toast.   :banghead:  Its a 1976 Kona 21' with an olds 455 and Dominator 12-S jet w/hydraulic trim tabs.  It has been converted to an open bow with a mid cabin. I couldn't figure out where to start so I pulled the motor and stripped it down.  Turns out the motor sat with water in it for a while and there was rust on the side walls and in the heads.  The osmossis process had also started on the pistons as well.  I brought everything over to the guys at Millenium Motorsports in Temecula and had them evaluate everything.  Turns out it was a pretty good build until someone let it sit.  H-beam rods, Sealed power high compression pistons, clay smith cam, and is a full roller setup.  Thankfully the crank and cam are good to go. But the block needs a bore and hone to .060 over, and the heads need re-surfaced and a valve job as well.  Greg @ Millenium has been awesome to work with.  He has answered all of my tech and pointless questions and actually took the time to explain the pros and cons of everything.  So the motor should be done in about a week or so.  The mid cabin had windows in it and was basically pointless because the access hole to the open bow was only 2' X 2'  :screwy:  Since the floor was bad, i decided to start there, while i was at it, I decided to cut the center section of the cabin out to make it a walk through and fiberglass in where the windows where.  I am about half way through all of that.  I have the floor cut out, thank God the stringer are good and not rotted, and the center section of the cabin cut out.  Now its time to get dirty and do some fiberglass work.  When thats all said and done it will be time to paint.....I will try to get some progress pics posted, but for now i have the before pics of the boat.  Let me know what you guys think.  Thanks for reading!

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Ford 460 D1ve
« on: January 20, 2010, 11:01:46 AM »
Hey Guys,

Its been a while since Ive been on here.  The engine has been down since June last year.  I finally got some money together to get her going again and I'm trying to figure out what route to go and need your guys' opinion.  The block is a 460 with casting # D1VE its currently bored .030 over and is going to need bored/honed/magged to work again.  Is the block worth salvaging or should I look into getting a new block or motor all together.  My dumba$$ also managed to throw away the stock rods and pistons  :banghead: :banghead:.  I was figuring that if it is a good block and worth salvaging that I would probably get a decent set of h-beam rods and decent pistons (unless it would be a waste of money).  I know the motor is going to put out any crazy hp.  Im not running a blower or charger or nos so would the h-beams be necessary?  Thanks for any input.

Robert

« on: April 25, 2009, 11:21:54 PM »
Just wanted to see what your guys' input is on this....When i flatfoot the boat i am only at about 42-4300 rpms.  Its a 21ft with a 460, msd ignition/dizzy, a berk 12jc a pump.  I hear most people running closer to 5k rpm's.  Is there something that needs adjusting to get more out of it?  or is that normal?

« on: April 24, 2009, 09:25:00 AM »
one is 1200 watts and the other is 1000 watts both in truck boxes.  these are pioneer's slim subs.  i had both of them hooked up to a 1000 watt 2ch amp underneath the back seat of my chebby and it bumped hard.  they are $220 new for each sub and box.  Asking $200 for both or $120 a piece.  Selling because i haul my daughter around (6 months) and dont ever get to use them.
