Question is valve spring New used or abused.
Is it a single or duel spring with dampener ?
what is you budget like ?
If old motor and you have some money pull both heads
have them checked. cheaper than a new motor.
Have new springs , retainer and locks in staled NO USED JUNK.
spend money on new valves & guides, 5 angle valve job, A lot eraser
to fix know than learn to walk on water.

You might want to take a good look at the retainers I cant tell for sure but I would say that the spring is to big for the retainer or the retainer was forced into the spring, I don't like any spring past the retainer sticking out, It will cause spring walk and wear. check the spring for pressure and wear and have good new  locks in staled.

Drag Race Car, Mustang, ET or Super Street 1968 ebay 150399801539

I built the heads on this motor all most 15 years a go and it still
runs hard has three Mr Walleye drag race throphys several class wins. This like losing and  old friend the heads are 351-4B heads that have the intake runners epoxied in with tongue plates full race port with Jack Roush manifold the ex ports have had tongue plates installed to, not a bad buy at $16000.00 plus. I think Lee has better than $40.000 in it

 For sale on EBAY know
