79 south wind tunnel dragster for sale less engine. Has motor plates, rail kit, gauges, seats, steering wheel, foot pedal, etc. Berkeley 12jg pump. Electric diverter. 427 Tall deck 9.5-1 compression runs solid. Only went on 5 trips in my tunnel dragster and I’ve decided to go a different route. Dart intake, 990 heads, 8 quart oil pan, stainless valves, forged pistons, forged crank, roller rockers, I was planning on putting a blower on it. I have some black water injected twisty Bassett headers I'm willing to part ways with. They are in pretty good condition but have been shortened by previous owner. I really would like to get a pair of the straight style headers, I dig that look a lot more than the twisty style. I'd even be willing to work out a trade for some of those Chinese DNA headers! $350 OBO for anyone that would like to buy them

That's what I was thinking too. Well I guess the situation isn't so bad. I just wanted to assure I wouldn't get any water in my engine. I have it apart at the moment and now would be the best time to take care of any of these issues. On those plugs I was thinking maybe a little jb weld around the little bit of thread I can get to from the inside of the ports? Or bad idea? I'm just afraid of one of those things coming out

I haven't checked on top of the ports yet but I will be sure to do that tomorrow as soon as I'm off work. I would assume you access the ones on the bottom of the port from the bottom side of the cylinder head?

I took those globs of whatever off and there are in fact 2 plugs in each port in cylinders 2, 3, 6, and 7, I believe. The only thing Is there is no way to tighten or loosen them. They have either a little symbol on top or a number or letter or something. No Way to tighten or loosen. Could I put something over them to be sure they don't back out? Talking to my mechanic he said one of his buddies had the same set up as me with the plugs and one backed out and obviously ruined the engine. My biggest question is can I run these heads?

So I bought a big block chevy recently And I was getting ready to put my intake on when I noticed something that definitely doesn't look right. The guy I got the motor from swears up and down these will work, but I'm in serious doubt. In the driver side head looking into the first water jacket on the front of the motor is very rusty. The rust ate out the jacket to the point where I can see the push rod?? Engine dude says they did a pressure test at 45 lbs and they worked. I just don't feel Comfortable at all putting this together HOPING it will work.
Also there's some type of plugs in the ports that they slopped silicone or something over. I added pics of both. Please help guys! I was hoping to get the boat running this weekend but this stopped me dead in my tracks.

Yeah those do take slip collar distributors...I just picked up a dart intake hopefully that works out. If I could put a standard distributor in it I'd be interested. I appreciate the offer though man!
