« on: September 18, 2010, 08:43:17 AM »Ok. I needed to add another cross member before putting the engine back in the boat after the fopar dyno session. See dyno post. Anyway, when I got this boat it had a home made trailer that only had two cross memebers that held bunks. The bunks were like bananas.Beautiful work, I wish you were close by as I want to add a hinged brace to mount a spare tire to the trailor. Anyone ever do this?
I found the angle of the existing cross members and cut out a cardboard pattern. Got some 4" C-channel and went to work with the plasma cutter, digital angle finder and MIG welder. I have not mig'ed in a while, so I was rusty. I mostly TIG. Just have to weld it into the trailer now and then make brackets for the bunks and get another 12" roller for the center. Then attack the spring bushings (there are none) as well as make a floater bar to keep the boat from sliding up on the trailer.
Here are some pics. This was a pain in the ass by the way.
