The No Wake Zone / Re: What did you do to your boat today?
« on: July 31, 2015, 01:20:23 PM »

Bought a second boat. Going to NorCal to pickup now. Don't judge, I know it's a Bayliner.  Hondo may be for sale soon. Still looking for a Southwind 18 that is medium blue and silver. Must be original gel. The last pic is exactly like the boat I'm looking for. That is what I grew up in.

Congrats on the new boat! Wish you lots of happy and fun outings in it!

It would be nice to have stainless headers but funds are low so I may just buy a replacement header which is $587.5 ($472.50 plus $40 for shipping and $75 for a baffle). :banghead: So I am looking at about $640 after tax.

I have a single baffle if you need it...
$50 shipped.

You said common sense... In a government official? Are you on crack?

You got me on the in gear thing. It's simply retarded.  :screwy:

If someone asked my to start my boat dry on the road, I would simply load up my shit and leave, but not before writing Moonbeam a nasty letter stating my distrust in the people they have running the show.

But that would be my choice. Most of the time it is an interpretation issue... Sort of like Facebook, you can say one thing and more often than not it's taken a totally different direction.

GT

You know why government officials lack common sense...

Like I indicated before... The system!
They are just there as puppets! They do what they are told- no common sense!

Exactly why so many jobs are getting replaced with robots

Some idiot above her told her you must do this this and this... And she does it. Without actually thinking about why the hell she's asking one to do such things!

Writing and appealing any of these irrational decisions takes a lot more time than I care to invest.

Here's the thing. I understand what you are saying, at the same time, do you have any idea how many times this has been said "it's brand new, never been in the water"?...

Better safe than sorry, if California has done ANYTHING right over the last ten years, it is the actions on this epidemic. I still see room for improvement. It may still be all for not, meaning it will have been for nothing if total buy off is not met.

GT

Common sense on inspectors behalf is most important!!
My boat didn't have a THING in it... Not even a rope...nothing!! Everything was in my truck, spotless for their high power microscopes
Carpet easily passes for operating room sterility!

Oh, and registration papers completed day prior👍🏻

What I'm saying is what they are doing is right! But inspect correctly, and use common sense!!

Please! Explain the necessity to put the vessel in gear?

If the boat was built in Nevada or Arizona, it very well could have been contaminated.

Not saying I'm not  d=sorry for the trouble, but it only takes one boat.

No one has come up with a solution, this is what we have. I understand it and work around it.

GT

My boat was originally built in San Fernando valley, and then restored in San Fernando valley as well. It's a Spectra

LV/AZ have not been part of this boats history for at least the last 12 years. Hadn't been in the water for 10 before I got it, and I restored it over two years time.

I understand, and respect their inspections... There is a reasonable procedure that should be followed, and not crossed into ridiculousness...
Starting the engine on the trailer, and putting it into gear, mind you... Is just plain ridiculous and foolish

My boat was absolutely dry everywhere!!
But starting the motor dripped a drop on the ground...

And my "new " boat failed.

There is no appeal for a failed "new" boat?

Has this process changed since 2011?

I'm sure there is an appeal that can be made- but I'm sure it would take ALOT more time and energy than what it's worth. They have a whole computer system that stores your cf#- once you're there... No California lakes for
7 day quarantine... I waited to run my boat this long, I'll wait another week and already have.

...The only normal local lake

Process changed since last summer- I never heard of starting the engine till I went this last time.

I'm sure they "pick and choose" who fails and who doesn't

Commie-fornia system always wins!

I would not even think about starting my boat on a trailer without removing the drive shaft.  I choose to not go anywhere that will be doing this.  Someone needs to get the memo out to the waterfowl till then we are fighting a losing battle.

Even with a jetaway, they would make you put it in gear, actual forward motion!
The person, a few cars in front of me... Had an outboard, they made him put the propeller in forward motion!!
Totally unsafe

It's absolutely ridiculous to have to start the engine in the first place!! If the bilge is dry and the boat is spotless... It fair to"assume" that the boat is clean!
No need to ruin people's day, and have a huge line of people for inspection just to turn everyone away who doesn't have a bow cable for the lake!

Best part of my "fail" receipt - the inspector marked
Last time in water - NEW!
Lake last launched at - Never, brand new!!

Let's not even mention how mad I was!

Boats For Sale / 1993 Bayliner Jazz 14' Jet boat - Runs great!
« on: July 09, 2015, 09:58:43 AM »
For sale is a 1993 14' Bayliner Jazz 90HP Mercury powered jet boat.

Engine runs great, I just put on a new coil pack, cleaned the carbs and ran some fresh fuel thru it.

This boat was taken on trade for some work on another boat.

I cleaned it up and got it running, now it's yours to run as is... Or make it into a mini project. Top flew up while being trailered and broke off at the hinges, easy fiberglass repair.

Original gelcoat has very minimal wear, will polish up very nicely.

I'm asking $975/obo for it with trailer.
Trailer has permanent plates on it.

I am located in San Fernando valley, 91342.

Do you think these would fit in a 18' Sleekcraft Rebel?  My boat is 4 hours away at the engine builders place. I can't measure it.

Sent from my iPhone using SoCal Jet Boats

I could not tell you for sure. Best thing to do, give your engine builder a call, have him throw a tape measure on your boat.
An alternative to this... Give him the measurements of my seats and have him guess if they fit 👍
