Projects / Mounting seats
« on: June 29, 2015, 08:48:30 AM »
Any suggestions on how to mount these seats. There is seat box glassed into the boat but I'm not sure how to secure them. I was thinking lag bolts but I was thinking they might rip out fairly easy... Any thoughts?

Lake Havasu / Re: What to expect from lake havasu law enforcement?

Like crewchief said. Have all the legal stuff and watch the drinking and driving. Goes without saying. If it gets storming or a bunch of 30' capsizers come by make sure you have a snorkel and a life jacket.

Projects / How to install J tubes on Holley carb
« on: June 02, 2015, 10:45:21 PM »
So I have some new press in J tubes. Getting the old ones out was a breeze so is installing straight ones. I can't figure out how to get them in without bending the tube. Any suggestions?

X2 on the gloves. I work in the safety industry and I've seen my share of horror stories. You shouldn't be doing a heavy machining with higher speed spinning things so you should be good pretty safe gloveless. Remember eye protection though. I'm gonna tap mine tomorrow so I'll we watching this thread...

Thanks for the heads up. Maybe my set screw is smaller. I can only get the 10-24 tap in to the first two threads so it seems like it would be a good fit. Regardless it's soft aluminum So im assuming tapping it the easier route. Then I'll have a tap and die set in the tool box.

I'm definitely not the expert but the next size up in the tap and die kit (9 bucks, harbor freight) I bought says 10-24. It seems like it would tap it out just slightly larger perfectly but I'm not sure if that's metric or...

I'm in the process of doing the same thing. I actually drilled all the way through the cable and the pedal on the other side oops. Good thing is I'll be doing what the threads above say. Tapping to the next size up. It took me about 30 seconds to drill it out and when my lazy ass puts this beer down I'm thinking 5 minutes to tap it out and put in the "double" set screw setup.
