The No Wake Zone / Re: What did you do to your boat today?
« on: September 10, 2014, 08:13:16 PM »

I got tired of doing all sorts of cool stuff for other people.  I started writing programs to lighten my Berkeley G bowl.

Figured I would start with the things that take the longest, cost the most in tooling, and yield the smallest gains (or none at all) LOL

Finally I have something to post here!  Wooohoooooo
Are you doing these for Starkweaher? Those look killer!

Jake... It's just a little small block!!! Your race boat should have no problem.
It's only a small block...... I think that small block makes more hp than my big block. ;)

Jake is the 11.80's on the bottle?  What mph?

Sent from my XT1080 using SoCal Jet Boats mobile app
That was with messing with hardware and the new all motor tune. 11.809 all motor, right about 94. We spray about 5 to 6 seconds to run 11.00's We went 10.557 at 103 in Oregon with about 9 seconds of the 150. That track is quick water grains were never over 20 air never went over 2500 feet.

We have got it down to where each second of nitrous is about  1.5 to 2 tenths or so. Depending on the weather. At firebird, throw everything out the window. Hahaha

The boat used to run 12.30's on motor and now it runs 11.80's with good air.

Hey Jake, did you go through any power tuning procedure to arrive at your 38-40 degrees of advance?  Did you see a change in RPM with the increased timing?  Lower E.T.?  Both?

Thanks,

Joe
We did all the tuning on the dyno at auto marine engineering. It pulls 200 more rpm on the good tune up than the pump gas tune up. For the 11.0 tune up we spray 150 shot and retard 4 degrees. Just make passes and read your plugs. It will tell you if it likes it or not. 👍🚤💨💦💦💦

I'm running 13-1 CR with vp110 what are you guys running?
Iam running Sunoco 110. Get it for about 8 bucks a gallon at Parker oil. I am only 10.2 to 1 but running a where from 38 to 40 degrees of timing and nitrous on top.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Re: Change heads??
« on: September 06, 2014, 12:05:14 PM »

Not the point.

If you put closed chamber heads on an open chamber short block combo, the 13.5: 1 compression ratio will run like a raped ape, for about two minutes...

If you go open on a closed, with the low compression ratio you will need a blower to make it run.

What do you have for piston, block, crank?

GT
Gt is right. You can't just slap a set of heads on there. Both sets will not work without some changes.

So how many free flowing gph would I need?

Go get a Holley blue fuel pump and set I up the nitrous side on that one. Much more reliable and safe.

Will it keep up......... Maybe. You mite lean it out due to not getting enough fuel I have ALWAYS, Used another fuel pump and regulator for the nitrous fuel side!!! Better safe than sorry. Always remember to take 2 degrees of timeing away for each 50 hp shot.

Call Lifeline and ask them if they have any trade in vests, this is what I did.  I bought a fully gone through vest with new zippers, new floatation, cleaned, and a re-certification for the same price everybody sells them for used on the  forums, and needing everything I just mentioned.

http://www.lifelineracegear.com/main/
X2 call ken. great guy to deal with. The trade in vests are a great deal. if your looking to get into racing, i say get the chute jacket now. save you some time and money in the long run.

You also can go to the dark side and get an SRP. just to give you another option.

The best spot would be to launch from McIntyre. the sandbar is 4 miles north of the launch ramp.

For dummy's run your valves? Explain why pls

Sent from my SPH-L900 using SoCal Jet Boats mobile app
Adjusting your valves. After running for a wile. The rockers can get a tad loose. Especially because you don't have a stud girdle.
