Fo Sho ! Now get this thing back on topic before I "smite" your ass  :sly:  :D

-beerjet-

Not yet , I have question first.  ;)

Is it true that most of the failures with stern drives are caused by shock loading the drive rather than actual power.

Thanks proppy!

Stern drive boats require a thick transom and they have to uniform to one another, all of the drive power gets transmitted throught the transom...

I picked up a 2 HP polisher today also, you done polishing parts yet?

hope to see that Eliminator back together soon...

GT

Thats what I thought , I remember the Daytona Tom and Josh converted to a jet.  That boat had (I believe) 3 layers of wood in the transom.  I believe it went from a stern drive to an OB to a Jet.  :screwy:

 Polishing
No.  ;)  I spent the day rideing, while the weather is still OK.  Needed to remove some rubber from the edges of the tires before putting the old GSX R away for the winter  >:D

Well maybe i think i might have found a solution to the driveshaft angle...

Are the plates supposed to sit on the rail ? as you can see mine are elevated about a 1/2" or so..

If you remember when i got this boat it came with those custom angle iron feet :banghead: i replaced them with the right ones but never drilled new holes. I think just by dropping the engine down and making it flush with the rail , it should fix my angle prob ???

I think you found your problem  ;D.   If the plates were siting on the rails before than they should be on them now.  But I still think you should check the angles just to be sure.

Its my 21' (outboard), and yea its on the left side only with the trailing edge 38" from the transom.  I don't know if it makes the boat pull to the left or not (have had it in the water yet), but I think it would. Maybe, the OB had a paddle wheel effect at speed and that helped  ??? ???.

Steve,  check your angles before cutting anything.

I dont know if its right or not, but here's mine when we were making the templates for the motor plates.  To make things easy I set the trailer so that the pump shaft was at 0 deg, than set the motor at 0 deg and adjusted motor height until I had around 2 deg on the drive shaft.

I call BS on that one.  To convenient that the trailer tongue wheel was down and the boat was still strapped to the trailer.  ::)

Beerjet, here's the ones under my old flatbottom.  Didn't even know it had 2 until I crawled under there today  :-[

And the one under the Daytona, and no I don't know why it has one.  I haven't seen one under any others.  :-\

Its nice to your still working on it !!  ;D ;D

I have to agree with Gt (again) on the angle/offset of that drive line Steve (looks like alot of angle). And does that pumps front bearing seal go to the shaft ?  It doesn't look like the drive line would fit in there . ???   How far is that pump shaft inside the drive line ?

Another thing, how much clearance is there between the flexplate and that line directly under it (fuel line ?) .
