But I CAN tell you the mileage in these little hot rod squirt guns is well south of good.

2-3 is pretty good, really, I'm in Nick's category at slightly over one if I kept my foot under control. Not an easy thing. I remember burning off one tank in Moo, 14 gallons, and the good part of another, on a blast from Pirates Cove to the Avi....... Pickle is no better, really, even with a very docile 454 and single carb....... 1/2 mile to a gallon is not unacheiveable.

If you have an Edelbrock "Performer RPM," then that's okay for your application.  If the intake is just Edelbrock "Performer," then it's not a great choice and pass on it/find something different.

Use a Holley 850 cfm double pumper, List # 4781.

Without knowing the exact details fo your engine, set your ignition timing to about 32* BTDC @ 3000 rpm (NOT at idle). And be sure to do spark plug readings and jet your new carburetor for the engine combination and tune.  You ought to see about another 1500 rpm or so, depending on jet pump.

Not to challenge you Paul, lord knows you've educated me more than quite a few times!    But this is a Mini Day that probably has an enclosed engine compartment. So the Holley list # 80443 marine DP is probably a wiser idea in this case don't you think?

Also, just thinking out loud, since this is NOT a hot rod, what's really wrong with using his Performer on it? I realize the original cast iron Marine D00E (429 SCJ) intake found on most all boat 460's is pretty hard to beat as far as the aftermarket in a dual plane, and THAT is the bar that's set on these boat engines. But if he doesn't have the D00E to fall back on (They're getting $70 bucks and better on Ebay these days), What's he to do? I kinda doubt he's going to see the real benefits that the RPM or Weiand Stealth is going to offer in this application, but you know better than me on that!

Looks like everythings installed correctly. Double check where the reverse bucket cable goes through the transom. Inside the boat, behind the motorm that cable needs to be fairly straight and have room to "float" in and out about a foot length of cable. it's probably just routed wrong and hitting something or run inside then striaght up or something. Snap a pic from inside the boat.....

This is going to sound like an attack, trust me it is not...Just not sure how else to word it......That little tab of metal welded to the hinge point will be absolutely no match whatsoever for a 2500-3000# boat under 2 G's (makes up to 6000#'s of force to that bar)...Whereas a floater angled the opposite way could easily handle the job...It will pull the bow downward putting more force on the bunks acting as brakes...Your configuration will actually lift the boat off the bunks, making it slide more easily..

I think a quick and easy fix could be a heavy DOT rated chain (3/8" welded loop) from the rearward side of the trailer (behind the bow eye) to the eye itself. It wont be idiot proof, but better than what you have there IMHO..Just don't want to see all your hard work go to waste...

LOL, I think that's the first post of something TJ made that wasn't plated, powder coated or anodized before use.......

But I do agree. A chain will help you with this. The floater bar ties the boat to the trailer for pulling it out gently, then, it's main function is to resist any braking forces. Most of us.....I've seen a few that don't...... also strap it down to the trailer on the stern. Most boats have hooks for doing this, some (My Pickle) do not, so I strap it down across the jet pump.

You don't want to end up slamming the brakes and have this.........

Got some pictures somewhere of what was left of a bowl and suction housing of a sunk boat running a 9" or so Aluminum in a blown alcohol deal.

Not pretty. If you're gonna stick with an A or an AA, probably get away with it as long as you're not spinning it to the moon, which would be hard to do on a blower engine anyway.

Problem, as I see it and was taught, when you get to the aggressive impellers to take advantage of the extreme HP, with loaders, stuffers, etc, THATS where the internal pressures inside that pump can get nasty. A standard aluminum impeller can quickly turn into a hand grenade, and as Crewcheif said, sinking is a definate probability if that happens......

If you're gonna stick with your impy, probably be OK. But if you're gonna build the pump to take advantage of that kind of motor, Stainless is cheap insurance.......
