Jet Pumps / Re: Y.j. pump
« on: September 22, 2008, 07:38:30 PM »
I have thought about that a lot, and could never find an answer to that question  :-\ (I also have a boat with a YJ).  In my uneducated opinion , I think it would depend on how fast you want the boat to go.  If its a general use lake boat I think the Energizer kit will be fine, but if your trying to build a fast river racer type boat I think it would be better to change the whole thing.  In my opinion (and I may be wrong) the berk style intake and suction housing should do a better job of feeding the pump because it was designed to work with that style pump. Also the intake upgrade parts, loaders, shoe, rideplates, etc, are available everywhere for reasonable prices.

I don't think I've ever seen an Energized YJ with a shoe / rideplate.

Maybe Tom or Josh (JBP) can give some actual real world info on this .

On the subject of CP performance,  I ordered my new t/r top from them and had no trouble.  It arrived in 2 days, drama free  ;D.  But I did call them to order it.

beerjet, do you have the timing cover/pointer and balancer from that motor ?   If its a reverse rotation motor the timing marks/numbers will be backwards from a standard motor, right guys ?   Might just have a reverse rotating cam grind  ??? .

The No Wake Zone / Re: Accident information..........hey Brad
« on: September 17, 2008, 08:39:35 PM »
Sorry to hear about your friend John.

Wow, 3 loader failures  :o .  Were they from bad welds, or broken bolts ?

I think we (as a group) need to remember, a lot of our "lake boats" are running speeds way faster and being pushed way harder than they were designed for and there not getting any newer.  Take a little time in the garage and do a safety check before your next trip, cables, steering, loader, fuel lines, U joints, is the fire extinguisher where you thought it was, is it still full, etc, etc.

I'm realy not a safty nazi, but what would be considered a small failure in a car could be deadly in a fast boat.

Every time I go out and make a hard pass I get a thrill and a foot "shake" ,never quite sure if its adrenaline or a little fear mixed in ?  Tommy

BTW if your going to buy a vest buy a good one (remember the old $2 helmet for a $2 head)
If that little bit of fear ever goes away get out of the boat !!  Its there to save you.  ;D

OK now I'm gonna need your advice. I have a 232*@.050 cam. How the hell can I get mine to idle that low?

This is a shot of Trimmer marina (just to the side of his roost)  early this year from Ironmans boat.

 A shot from Sunday  >:( >:(

There is still some water in the main body of the lake but there are trees sticking up everywhere  :screwy: .

The No Wake Zone / Re: Hull Damage
« on: September 13, 2008, 09:54:55 PM »
Chaz,  If I remember right you did your floor a while back , right ?   Same thing just more glass and no wood, just do both sides of the hull (outside and inside) or it will crack.  Mine still looks solid (no cracks) and Ralphs has taken more abuse than most boats ever see and is still holding up.   ;D

Heres Ralphs (full of red Xs  >:( ) http://www.socaljetboats.com/index.php?topic=1277.0

 And heres mine .   http://www.socaljetboats.com/index.php?topic=1284.0

btw , I hope you remember what that other boat looked like, payback is a bitch, and as easy as a couple notches on the diverter.  >:D

Here's my "small block" (3.4 L) .  It makes 300hp at 5300rpm, has 6 carbs, keeps the skeeters out of my yard, and sounds like a pack of sick dirt bikes  ::) .  Maybe it would run better with some zoomies and a big fiberglass scoop.   >:D

Looks like your trying to tame a wild animal there Tom.   Its a race boat hull , it only needs to have 2 throttle settings (on and off), stop trying to turn it into a cruiser .   :screwy:

JK ,  You know I'm watching and learning from this project, and you know why I need to.  Crazy rocker bottom boats   :banghead: .
