Took my heads in to get milled new guides and a valve job  ;D

Jim is a cool guy. A little slow on building motors but his work is good. We just had him build our 438 sbc for my dad's camaro

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Bbc 454 water down
« on: January 17, 2015, 12:51:29 PM »
Hey guys. Heading to the river tomorrow morning to pick up the boat to bring back and inspect. Long story short last summer boat halfway sunk. Got water in the oil so I drained it squirted wd40 In each cylinder and left it up there.

I was thinking of pulling the motor to check but I wanted to see if you guys thought I could just get away with a couple oil changes and good to go ? Any thoughts ? Thanks guys

i too have a couple square nose superjets....what havasukona455 said is legit.  if you search long enough...you may find a square nose for about a grand.  701 is a good motor.  if you get a newer 701, like '96+ [62t] ( i think ), they'll make more power with mods (they have bigger intakes).  you can make a 650 run good....if someone has put in the time already, could be a good option.  factory B pipes are good for exhaust.  riva is as well.  new CDI...higher rev limiter.  single dual barrel carb if you can.  make sure you inspect the impeller, aftermarket or stock cast .  no knicks, bent blades.  look thru the intake.  speaking of....see if it has aftermarket intake grate.  scoop grates are best, loader grate require more ponies to benefit from.  umi quick steer is cool, same as finger trigger for throttle.  aluminum handle pole...with or without aftermarket pole spring-helps rider fatigue.  and an aftermarket ride plate...theyre longer and help keep nose planted....similar to a jet boat.

sorry if you knew all this already....

Good info here.

62t 701 are good motors but so are the 61x motors. In my opinion they build more torque.

Kawis are more of a bouy chaser and super jets are more for freestyle and they have more torque. It really depends on what you wanna do with it

Are you looking for a square nose or round nose. With 1500 you can get a decent square nose with a 701 swap but if you want a newer round nose your gonna have to spend more coin. I've owned a few and have a couple (not for sale) and have built many. Let me know if I can help

They go for 550 new and I don't see how they depreciate in value ? There's also a couple used ones for sale for 450. Efi live would be nice but it's not in the budget. Do you have the actual efi live system of just the 5 dial switch with set tunes ?

I run the edge juice on my 07 with a s and b intake and a 4" to 6" stack with no cat and i hate the edge. Wanna go efi live but gotta do a fuel dog with it. Wish i had the money. With the edge my truck throws codes all the time, i have seen 4 different codes pop up but never any differance in the way the truck drives.

Really ? How do you have it set up ? I got the tuner from my buddy who loved it. It's got my data and you can run the system while driving around to see all the data like air intake temp or egts and boost pressure. The ppe is a good tuner but it's not really for making big power in my opinion unless you have the hot tuner
