What length cable do you need?  Post a picture of the rack end.

I've got a couple spares, and Parker auto parts stocks em.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Re: Holley vs Speed Demon
« on: June 11, 2014, 05:19:42 PM »
Hey guys I'm deciding between a holley model 0-4781s 850 double pumper and a Speed Demon 850 double pumper. I like the looks of the demon but if the holley out performs it than I'll go holley. Any thoughts?

Engine:

454 .030, 9.5 compression, comp xm278 cam, 049 heads with 2.19 and 1.88 valves. Edelbrock air-gap intake.

Thanks!

ive always used holley carbs. nothing against demons. its a preference thing.

The No Wake Zone / Scoop opinion...
« on: June 10, 2014, 09:18:27 PM »
The scoops of this size don't really do anything to help performance. They sure look good to me. I I've always liked fiberglass scoops over the normal metal ones. I would do a yellow base and silver stripes with a small black pin stripe to break it up.

Jet Pumps / Re: Intake set back
« on: June 09, 2014, 09:51:51 PM »

If the set back is already completed, I suggest just having the intake housing reinstalled correctly in the setback position.  The added fiberglass work required to go back to the stock location might cost more in the long run.

Depending where you are located, I'd recommend calling or swinging by GS marine for some input.
If the boat has a set back I would leave it. Set back will only help you. I would use GS, b1 racing or MPD. Depending on your location. Like crechief said the added cost of having to glass the hole and what not kinda won't be worth it.

Plug wire?  Crack in the distributor cap?  I had one of those Crossfire (misfire) distributor caps where the wires for each side of the engine exited that side of the cap.  It made wire management look pretty, but the MSD 7AL2 shorted everywhere inside the epoxy filled cap.

How does the fuel discharge look inside the carbs?  I really don’t think you have a mechanical issue since you didn’t have one when you parked it.  Just be careful looking in the carbs so you don’t burn your eyebrows off.  Use a mirror!

Well chit....... dont i feel like a dumb ass..... :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

number 4 and 6 were crossed. she fired up like always!

I would go back to square 1 and treat it like a new build with un-known  parts.  Start with #1 TDC pull the cap and verify your timed right.  Make sure you didn't shear a distributor gear pin.  Check voltage at the coil.  Crank it and check spark intensity.  Cam's don'[t go flat sitting in the garage, but maybe lifter bleed off?  Is it a hydraulic cam?  Does it sound like hit has good compression when you crank it, smooth even cranking?

i just double checked everything. timing is on the money, everything is right so far. Voltage was good everywhere. Changed the coil.
i think ive narrowed it down to the distributor number 4 and 6 are not firing. compression is fine 130 all the way around.

-12 is huge! i only run -10 to the regulator the -8 to the carbs.
-8 to the nitrous

That's how I did mine.

460 ford, holley 850, mallory marine distributor

well before i put the motor away last it ran and fired fine. Go to start it up yesterday and all it wants to do is pop out of the carb, headers and miss on the start. i cant get it to run.

Cleaned the carb and put new accelerator pump pumps, power valves, needle and seats, gaskets.

Cleaned the rotor and pick up, locked out at 36* total

iam out of ideas. maybe the cam went flat???? :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
