Bad gas my a** .   ::), that motor was in big trouble before it ever saw water, but he ran it anyway.  Go back and look at that thread , it was running like crap (wouldnt idle, popping, etc, etc) and he ran anyway just to get it on the water and try to get it faster than 49 mph  :screwy:.  Lesson to be learned = take your time and build it right, than if something is wrong fix it before you go to the lake.

 Well I had a change of plans with the pulleys  ::) ,  Billy/ ironman and I created this a couple nights ago, so no more ugly alt on the front of my motor  ;D ;D ;D .   Now we just need to come up with a cool (easy) way to mount the alt back there (its always good to plan these things out in advance  ::) ;D )

 Dont let them get to you 2sav  ;) .  Its your project and it needs to make you happy, so let it be done when its done !!!  Theres no need to rush things or cut corners now, you have way to much time and money in it to halfass it together to get it on the water. Thats what Rod did and it cost him a motor, now hes taking his time and doing it right.  When people ask me when the Eliminator will be done, I say, when its done it will be done and not a day sooner  ;D ;D 

 BTW, its looking good, keep it up and get-it-done  ;) ;D

 Just a reminder here.  Not every boat needs a droop to work right.  It was recommended to me by Greg Shoemaker not to use a droop on this hull, and since the JC is said to flow better than the split bowls, I'm sticking with it for now.  Although I may need to change to a split bowl later if it needs some wedge.

 Tug of war  >:( , that makes there noses longer  ;) ;D.  No , I learned my lesson about that game with Clyde.  He could drag me across the floor (easily) and would "play" that game with my blankets in the morning when he thought it was time to get up  :banghead:  :mad:.

 Thanks Ralph , I didn't think of that.   My stringers are 26" apart, but I used 2 1/2" angle for the rails. So I have 4 3/4" +/- room for a filter, I could also just notch the rail a bit  :-\ .  But it did always bother me trying to change the filters when there angled like that (I'm messy and I always fill the filter with oil before putting it on ::)).    Ive seen the cheapy adapters come apart too, but I cant remember witch ones it was that are junk, might just break out the credit card and go with the billet stuff to be safe.

 Here's a link to a good pic of a jet a vator/jetavator (however its spelled  :-\),  Note that the pumps bowl (JC pump) is turned 90 deg , so the original steering nozzle pins do the up down movement of the diverter and the steering is done after that.  http://www.socaljetboats.com/index.php?topic=1720.msg21710#msg21710

 This is a Place diverter (old style, but they work the same), also a JC pump.  Note the steering is done at the bowl and the up down movement (diverter action) is done after that.


 The droops have a steering setup and you cant turn it 90 deg or it wouldn't be a droop  ;) .  I don't know if Berkeley or anybody else ever made a droop for use with the jetavator or not, but I'm sure someone on here knows.

 I'm not sure, but I don't think the jet a vator will work on a droop. You might need to pick up a Place diverter instead.  :-\

IMO it depends how hard you run'em and for how long...

 I thought about an oil cooler, but I really don't want to go into the motor right now to up the oil pressure (pumping losses from all the added length) , but I think I'll be ok with just the remote filter as long as I keep the lines short (might put it on the front of the front motor plate  :-\).

As far as how hard I run it, well, lets just say it doesnt have an easy life  ::)  ;D .  But it was built to handle me, and I only run it hard for a short time.

As long as I'm being a post whore today here's some shots of the motor , IN THE BOAT !!!!!  :o :o :o The plates are all cut and trimmed up , I'm just going to wait for Billy to look at it and double check the angles before I drill for the mounting blocks.  Better to check ten times than have extra holes  ;) .   




Oh yea, I need to get an oil filter relocator kit (it hits the rails) , but I wanted one anyway  ;) .

 I have new parts !!!  ;D ;D    The motor plates are here and they fit.  I just put them on to check and make sure all the holes lined up and the starter was good (this is the first set of BBF plates Billy/ironman has made) and every thing looks perfect !!  ;D   Now I just need to use the patterns I made to transfer my cuts onto the new plates and start cutting them to fit the boat.  Should be able to have it in the boat today  :o :o .  But than I will still take it all back apart one more time to polish everything and do the final finish on the floors. 

 Also got all my new parts from Jet Boat Performance this weak, new steering, new cables, really cool transom fittings for the cables, steering extension, angle mount for the helm, pto, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc,,,,,,,, it was a long list . ::)  And I'm sure I forgot something (good thing shipping only takes one day to get to me  ;D) . 

 Here's some pics of the motor plates ( I think these plates might be tall enough to work in tunnel boats too,  I should go measure the Daytona  >:D). Billy makes them with lots of material on them so you can trim them to fit anything.  And just wait till you see the flex plate cover hes making for me (its sooooo cool !!!)




 Just as a side note, I found out that these BBF crank pulleys are two pieces and if you only need one belt you can separate them and have a single groove pulley.  There are a couple small spot welds , drill through the back side of the pulley on the welds (just drill through the unwanted pulley, not all the way through) and use a chisel to separate them  ;) .

 Well this isn't real progress but I did something today.  I modified the patterns for the motor plates to fit in this stupid boat  :banghead: , now Billy can use the modified patterns to make a custom set that will work in this thing (just have to wait for some open time on the water jet) .  This hull has some really weird angles in it, and I set the rails to high  :banghead:, so a custom front plate is needed.

 But I like what I'm seeing  ;D ;D

 Stop tightening the dirty connection and take it apart and clean it  :screwy:.  The hot connection (The one that burned your little fingers) is the dirty one.   Also if you always have a starting problem after sitting, check the boat by putting an amp meter between the bat and the + cable, you might have something drawing power even when the key is off  :-\ .

 Here you go ,

overall length = 18' 3" (not counting the plates)
tip of bow to back of dash = 8'
bottom of transom to the start of the curve at the top = 19.5 "
and as close as I can measure its a 10 deg V (+or -) at the transom, but it looks like there is less of a V as you move forward (the entry is almost like a flatbottom).  :-\

I really don't think this hull is a copy of anything, I have never seen anything like it (the rocker bottom).
