5.7 350 rods preferably 6.0. Make
Usehumpers didnt come with long rods, at least the sure heads have hardened seats, the  them. Unleaded fuel will beat the crap out of 'em. Unfortunatly you can get a set of aluminum heads for what people want to put seats in. I've got two sets of the "fueley" heads 1966 and 1969, good for restorations.

False seats for marine ??? ???

Cylinder head rebuilder's.......What is your take on this ???

I  am an A.S.E. MACHINEST / A.S.E.CERTIFIED BLOCK SPECIALIST / A.S.E. CERTIFIED  CYLINDER HEAD SPECIALIST.

THE PROBLEM IS  EVERY TIME I GRIND VALVE SEATS IT GOES UP MY NOSE...AFRAID I WILL GLOW IN THE DARK
SOMEDAY :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:   ( Stone Grinding )

Steps I have taken at the work station:
1.  fans, deflecting dust./ speaker magnets in work station to help collect dust.( in work cabinet )
2.  Respirator mask /  multiple other fans to deflect the crap away.
Still, after every valve seat grind I crap the sht outa my nose....

Sorry about your engine failure :(

Do you know if your rods were stress  relieved etc./ and new bolts installed   ???
Rods don't typically just go away if proper work is performed.

I was always told that if you force the pistons out of a cylinder you would crack the block...Is this a bunch of hooey?   ???

I, ma have always used muratic acid on the piston topskes the aluminum "smaller" and cleans the hell out of the bore...They normally slide right out after a half hour or so...Haven't cracked a block yet.  :sly:

From what I have heard, it also hardens the cylinder...

GT
[/quote    Muratic acid...might try  that next time....How about the fumes ??? ???
                Thank's GT ;D

Relieve the cylinders....You know you don't  just hammer them out  GT.   And no, with attention to detail
you do not crack the cylinders.... After all is said and done .. Sonic test and press.test.  (AFTER BORING) ;D

I just couldn't let this one go without sharing!

A teacher was doing a study testing the senses of (taste) of First graders using a bowl of lifesavers.
The children began to identify the flavors by their color:
Red........................Cherry
Yellow.................Lemon
Green.................Lime
Orange ................Orange

Finally the teacher gave them all HONEY lifesavers.
After eating them, none of the children could identify the taste.
'Well,' she said, 'I will give you all a clue. It's what your mother may sometimes call your father.'

One little girl looked up in horror, spit her lifesaver out and yelled,

'Oh my God!! They're ass-holes!!!

 ;D GT
