Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Re: Overcharging Issue
« on: June 12, 2008, 08:37:00 AM »
Try a new circuit breaker,  those things get week after time.  Also what is running through the breaker ?  The alt should not be running through a 30 amp breaker.  The alt can put out more than 30 amp to recharge the batt and should have its output going direct to the batt.

And be carefull ,  voltages that high can damage things like your tach , other gauges, stereo, ignition boxes, etc etc .

Tom, Glad to see it somewhere it will be taken care of.  Now I have some questions about that hull.  In the second pic in this thread it looks like it has somekind of dropped keel ? is thst just my eyes ?  Also I see some bolts in front of the intake, what are those for ?  Forward extentions of the fins on the intake ?
Im always trying to learn something new  ;) ;D

Btw, I want that pedal assembly for the plates  , cool boat !!

1413
I have another dumb question about this ::).  Does this type of system work only on open headers or will it work with baffles ?  I was thinking the baffles would make backpreasure and the system wont be able to draw the air out of the motor, right/wrong ?

The other possibility is a bad ignition switch or electrical to the ignition system, like a fuse holder or terminal causing a voltage drop to the box, at certain RPM could vibrate at that perfect frequeny. To rule this out just use a jumper for a quik run and see if the problem goes away.

I agree, sounds like an electrical problem.   When you make the jumper wires, do power and ground to the batt.  If it works fine than the fun starts   :sly:.  Leave the power to the batt and put the ground back where you had it and try again (rules out a ground problem). You also have somekind of safty killswitch in there right?  Check everything ! This will take some time to find, you need to bypass each component one at a time and try again until it works.

btw , if I remember right you had some problems with gauges not working correctly, right ??  might be related.  ;)

You have a pm  ;)

I have not ever and probably never will have a new super trick boat, my stuff has always been junk that I keep tweaking until it is what I would have bought if I could, the stupid part is, I sell them and start over, so its obviously kind of a sickness :screwy:

Again good luck!

I think we all have that sickness   :-\ ,  but I like it  ;D ;D

Sure there is a manual, its all in your head! 8)
