Great news Skip, I knew you would figure it out !  ;D

San Antonio is on the July schedule! Flytime is gonna be there for a week, we can invade his rented mobile home and enjoy some A/C after a day on the water.
Hmmm, I might be able to have my junker on the water by then  ::), maybe  :-\

Jet Pumps / Re: Ride plate ?
« on: May 29, 2008, 09:08:56 PM »
Propless, the shoe looks just right. Perhaps the fact you were measuring against a "C" bowl ,not a split, is what made it look off.

Thats good news.  ;D  I guess I'll have Ironman cut me one at 19" and start there.   btw , what would happen if its to long / short,  just so I know when tuning time comes ?

There is a guy on Performance Boats that could use pictures of the reverse cable bracket for that old long diverter. All he currently has is that long nozzle and matching reverse bucket and is trying to figure out how to make it all work. One of his options is to modify the "current" reverse cable bracket to the early configuration.

I just posted some pics for him,  always willing to help.  ;)

Thanks guys, heres a shot of the shoe  ??? .   I just went out and measured again, and the other pic is correct, there is 20" from the front of the shoe notch (where the plate mounts) to the center of the steering pins.   I dont want to hear this is wrong and I need to pull the intake !!!! :sly:

Dont know if this matters or not but I have an old style (looong) diverter.

I need to get an idea how long I should make my ride plate.  I looked in the old threads but couldnt find anything  :-\ .  In the pic the end of the tape measure is at the back of the shoe.

I'm definitely not a carb expert, but that carb sizing formula just doesnt seem right.
From Holly = "You take the engine cubic inch and multiply by the maximum RPM and divide by 3456".

As I see it, (for example) A 400ci motor making 500hp at 5000rpm is going to need way more air and fuel than a 400ci motor making 250hp at 5000rpm.  :-\

I was always told BBFs like big carbs, 750 good 850 better.  I dont think you want to be maxing out the carb just to reach your desired rpm, let the beast breath !  You might be suprised what it will do  ;) .

This is just the start , but we took Ironmans boat up this morning to do a leak test and pre holiday test run. It was perfect, no leaks and it ran great !!  He changed his JC pump to a split bowl with a droop and added one of his own custom loaders (more info coming soon).  And I have to admit his boat works verry good, its the same basic hull as my old boat but it rides better and feels more solid.

Ok, enough rambling heres some pics  ::) . BTW. the water was great, but yea it rained a little on us  :(

WTF is that lump ?  Is the spark plug still under the skin ?  That hurts just looking at it !!  Dont forget to add the cost of the injury (doctor visit etc etc) to the build cost of the boat.  ;)
