Tom,
I have an electric JOV and was wondering what size the cable is on these and can you get them?

They typically use a 43bc cable about 8'-9' or longer depending on the mounting location of the box, and yes they are readilly available.

I think it is aggressor or miersch?

Lookin good! That does look like an Aggressor, which is essentially a similar design w/ suttle differences.  It's actually a copy of a copy of a Miersch, at least thats how Roy explained it to me.

Profesional Performance Products Intake or "Miersch"

that right there is true; if you were closer I'd go 2 cases and have you make the cut  ;D

With as much beer as I drink, you wouldn't want me cutting a hole after a Tall Boy :P

I think the inexpensive ones are $10 and the expensive ones are $20.....you'll spend more on a milwaukee sawzall blade than that ;D, plus the silicone for around the outside, and a case of beer to get up the nerve to cut a hole like that in the boat........ so net net under $50

It's waaayyy down on the list but I was thinking of cutting a hole directly above the hand hole for better access; problem is, I don't know what to rig there to cover the hole.

My Glastron has one of these above the inspection cover on the E-pump that actually goes into the hull/engine compartment :screwy:

Looks like the short Bellhousing, as I suspected.  Panthers typically use the long driveline assembly with a short bellhousing  to get their depth/ DL engagement correct, where Berkeley uses a long bellhousing w/long DL or short w/short.  If you were going to use that bellhousing you would need the 6 3/4" drive line, the one that has the crank flang built on to it.

Now that I think about it, it seems like alot of horspower to put into 3 point mounts anyhow....

Well if its not a tahiti you may have to change your name ;)  We have an Omega out in front of our shop that could be its twin.  Interesting thing it it has original omega tags and gelcoat but the HIN has been filled in and branded/etched with a "home made ID", One can only imagine what happened there ::) .......backfees, lost reg......etc  It also originally has a Panther so you never know you could have an Omega.  Omega Mike just doesnt have the same ring...

We also had a Charger in that appeared to have the same bottom, different deck though

We usually run a ball valve infront of the header t to further regulate the water to the headers.

Most of the gaskets you will need should be the same as berkeley or easilly modify.  It looks like it's mixture of bayjet and berkleley parts anyhow.  Appears to be Berkeley G bowl, and also looks the like the shaft and bearing cap have been exchanged with a later berkeley pieces.  The original shaft and bearing cap were similar to 12JA pumps and WJ jacuzzi's.  One can only theorize on impeller but I'd be willing to bet who ever did all the fancy mods replaced the impeller also.

....and i may be wrong but I believe your transom adapter is berkeley also ;D

When you get a chance snap some underneath pics of the intake and loader area, just curious.

Replacing all the seals/gaskets adding a droop and eliminating the ride plate and other crap on it.....Its not a race boat no mo so i dont need all that crap :banghead: Just want it simple ;D

2sav

Don't eliminate the ride plate, just trim it to the correct length and adjust it acoridingly.  Just because its not a race boat doesnt mean it can't be benificial to the overal ride quality and set up.  Especially if you are going to add other hardware (like a droop)  It gives you one more level of control.  my .02, don't go backwards.

Overkill or not, that is just purdy!
Thanks, I gotta modify it once more to fit in that bowl ::)  Its just sittin in there, and slightly change the cone shape to fit the hi-helix.

after seeing that one (agressor), is the one I have going to actually worth the time and effort for the gain it will produce?, and I think the smart thing also would be to tap and fill my existing holes, and re drill them the way you have it set up, it would probably be easier and safer and stronger (versus, fishing out the shavings, drilling and tapping, into oil resevoir)
Truthfully, a plate stuffer would work very well for you,  I'm not quite sure if the one I built was worth the time or effort but it was fun.  Heres what an aggressor one looks like from aggressor.

But there is a machined area in an aggressor bowl for it to sit in, it wouldn't bolt into a berkeley bowl, without some work

Cool !! Thanx.
Would it flow more if it where cone shaped or is something else in front of it?
I spent way too much time on this one, but somewhere buried amonst more aluminum it started out as an Aggressor cone stuffer.  This one fits .025" everywhere :screwy: I think i had too much time on my hands.

Here is the one I have, it looks like the mounting holes are different and champfered on the other side, hmmm, this one is 7-1/4 across 1/2 thick in the center and the taper is approx 5/16
with a 32nd on the front side (as shown in your pic.) My mounting holes are  on a 2 in radius or 4 inch circumfrence, where yours is probably closer to 6-3/4 center

I've seen ppl do that before but be carfull and seal the bolts because they go right into the oil cavity, also make sure and get drill shavings out.

Found a pic of a simple stuffer, a ledge has been machined on this one to create an L shape mating surface(kinda like a shoulder on a wear ring), How ever I would typically machine the mating surface on the impeller also incase its a hair off center.

That is a pretty tight fit!

I cut em small initially then take many many trips back to the bandsaw, this is also why we don't offer these plates for sale exept as an in house installation.

I have never used cat parts but I don't think its the material people typically complain about on CAT products, it the machining and tollerances that come in to question.   But there again I've heared ppl complain about eagle and run out on their crankshafts.

Well I am going to tear into my pump for the first time to install a stuffer. The pump had a new impeller and wear ring installed last summer so hopefully it'll come apart fairly easy. I am thinking/hoping all I will need to do is basically drill/tap install the stuffer plate, re-check tollerances as it goes back together. Is there anything that I should be aware of before I get this thing tore down (special machining ect.) pictures of the mounting would be sweet.

Josh, this post has your name all over it, can you hear it calling your name lol  ;D

;D If you are going to install a stuffer plate it should be pretty straight forward.  Take the bowl off, get some modeling clay (playdo) make acouple of balls the size of marbles put at least two on oposite sides of the impeller, put the bowl back on and torque it down(don't turn the shaft).  Remove and measure the squished clay with a pair of calipers, they should measure about the same, if not it wouldn't be bad idea to put a few more on and check it again.  I usually will put the same clearance on the back side of the impeller as I use on the front so take your measurment and subtract .025" -.035" and you know how thick to make your plate.  Also its not a bad idea to drill an 1/8" hole in the bottom of the stuff to drain any water that will get trapped in there.

You can also get real fancy on your stuffer and machine it to fill in the void on the impeller, but thats a whole nother story.

Cool rooster, LOL, I need to design something like that.  :D
Maybe a pop off that shoots straight up :P   The funny thing is the boat would still go until he dropped it to an idle then it lost prime and would go anywhere :banghead:

How reliable is the caulking?  Sorry, the Mechanical Engineer side of me is coming out! :screwy:

Thats cool, If we had to fill huge gaps it probably wouldn't be the best way to do it.  But I cut the plates to fit real snug up against the housing, so i'll put a bead of caulk on the mating edge of the plate then finish it off with a nice clean bead on the outside.

you can see how tight the plates fit

If the chunk thats missing is that big there is probably no real hope in repairing it however new aftermarket aluminum impellers aren't baddly priced and there are alot of good used impellers out there also.

Alot of early split bowls from 12ja and 12jb pumps didn't have alot of material on the bowl register and in some cases some of the bolt holes actually entered into the psi side of the bowl, not a terribly common problem but this will cause a leak like you were experiencing.

So do you just silicon around the pump and the back plate? If not how do you keep the H2O out?
I havn't finished puttin the rest of the duct tape on yet ;D

....silicone ;)

...11mm diameter to fit snuggly in Place Diverter and Berkeley cable grommets unlike the 9mm diameter Teleflex cables....
I don't know about these guys but the boats we work on don't use the metric system ;D  I rarely have a problem getting the forward/reverse packing to seal on Teleflex when using a new replacement seal, but we've devised a new seal assembly to eliminate the awkward OE assembly (much easier to install), I'm gonna make some more tomorrow I'll see if I can get a pic up (they look cool too).  As far as getting the PD cable seal to seal with a Teleflex, It's usually as simple as repacing the rubber grommet with the seal you would use on the OE f/r packer, works like a charm (the rounded flange makes the edges of the gromet pinch in). I made a 33c cable seal through a PD seal doing that the other day 8)
