That is the key Ralph... Taking the precautions. Unfortunately many do not.
As for myself, I have not encountered any Flat tappet problems in my bus... I still beleive
( aside from brute negligance and total lack of common sence,etc.)
that if the right procedures are followed, there should not be issues.
But the beauty of roller grinds speaks for itself.. Also I agree on the Valve Geometry issues
relevant to Fords/ Chrys etc... As for you Beerjet... Break the cam in properly with the correct
additives and you should be fine.

Based on today's issues w/flat tappet cams.... In my humble opinion I believe that
The flat tappet cam should be upgraded to a hyd./roller or solid roller...
Nothing worse than loosing a engine over cam failure. Just my opinion.

Anyways Tony is a fellow racer, which turned his thoughts to Aircraft.
In Fullerton, Ca. Back in 2004, His plane crashed and it was no fault of his,from what I understand.
He suffered severe burns/injuries which in no doubt6 has affected his life forever.

Tony has been in the Racing Engine environment his entire life.... In fact he had a "Bad Ass 69' Nova"
back in th 80's...and it was only a small block! It was the FASTEST car around...PERIOD!!!!
He worked at an engine shop as well as myself.
To his dismay, My 68' bbc/4 speed CHEVELLE/SS defeated him and I had The Fastest Car around.
We raced everything and anything. Those were the best days ever.. Tony never regained his title
my CHEVELLE always beat all of the competition.. In fact "76 NORDIC" had a bitchen "70 Firebird"
which held it's own as well.....But he could'nt beet the chevelle either.
Theses where serios racing days on the Whittier strip and surrounding areas, for Bucks!
Anyways, Sorry for the dragged out story...... The point is my friend Tony called me yesterday
and we talked about those times.... Awesome rememberance.

There is alot more to it than the "ECONOMY" in the Engine Bus.!
Factors, . substandard work, fly by shops, cheap parts, and crate stuff.
This has been a factor for many years now. Bus. is good for me ....but
it is very different than many other types of bus.....Just my thoughts
