Projects / Re: Installing Berkley intake
« on: February 18, 2014, 03:24:02 PM »
I recently bought a 21' Witchcraft that was set up for a Jacuzzi pump I think. The one that mounts to the transom. I have a Berk intake I wan to install as the pump and motor in my existing boat are good. I have done some research on the net to see how it is done and it looks fairly simple. If anyone has done this before and has some advise I would be very grateful. I'm sure there are some little things to watch out for. I have plenty of glassing experience but don't want to have to do it twice.
Thanks,

You will have to glass the whole intake hole in and cut a new hole. The jacuzzi intake hole is much bigger and the holes don't line up. If the intake is cut for a shoe, put the biting edge of the shoe about 1/8 above keel, you can set the intake from 4 degrees to 4.4 degrees. but no more than 4.4
Also make sure things are nice level from side to side. its an easy thing to do but just very tedious. Good luck bud.

I thinking about selling my 049's and going with a set of bare rectangle port Procomps and having my machinist assemble the valve train. Anyone have any reviews of procomps?

Pro CRAP is right! You can pick up a pair of brodix BB2's bare for about 1300. Spend the money on quality parts.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Re: Best carburetor rebuild shop
« on: February 03, 2014, 02:57:42 PM »
350 wtf.  i could jsut buy a brand new carb for that price.  does he rub whale blood on it or something?

350 is not that bad ... If they really know what they are doing.
I sent my carb in to CSU after a year of running and after a cam change. He asked for numbers of the cam, rockers, Cubic inch, compression, heads, fuel system, and intake. With that rebuild i got 2 and a half pages of MATH. That right there shows me he knows whats up.

I know john at C&J does the same thing

Anybody can change and set floats, clean a carb, change jets ect....... JMO

Ya I no the dividers are to stop the circler motion of the water that cms out I think that having nothin in the way would be better!!! Where's Chris's at with the b1 answeres or Andy

Sent from my iPad using SoCalJetBoats mobile app
Yeah I agree about the cfm's. None of the droops I've ever ever run have had the dividers in them. Personally, it would be a good data test with the edlelbrock quick data 2. Also adding wedges and nozzle inserts would make it even more intresting.

I remember shoemaker saying that the divider didn't make a single difference on data on a Daytona and a v bottom.

In my opinion cut that shit out and blend it in nice.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Re: 383 stroker build HELP opinions
« on: January 28, 2014, 01:01:20 AM »
Alright so I'm actually building this motor for my 76 c10 swb drag/street truck. I'm curious as to what kind of hp and torque I can expect and what routes I should take and what compression i should expect and what kimd of fuel i can be expecting to run. ill list what I have below

010 .030 over 4 bolt block
400 3.75 stroke crank already machined
6 inch rods with KB flat top pistons
Vic jr intake
64cc Vortec heads off a circle track crate engine
Gm racing cam .435Int/.460Exh lift and 212/220 Duration with 112 lob separation
Comp cams 1.6 roller tip rockers (so lift will actually be .464/.490 if I did the math right)
Double roller timing set.
800cfm q-jet.

sorry this is non boat related. So cal is pretty much the only forum I get on.

My dad had a 383 he built for his ultra. 10.5 to 1, bout the same cam with a set of world 202 heads on it. it made a tad under 400 HP.
Hope this helps.
