During the week, you're ok there. Weekends, FORGET IT! We call it Lake Un-Pleasant locally for many reasons. Nothing but wake barges and off-shore power boats, causing "The Deadliest Catch" style swells. I think OldMX has a horror story or two from there recently with his 21'.

Other lakes around are more small jet boat friendly. Bartlett and Apache among the best. Saguaro is good, but gets pretty rough at times but can still at least navigate and get a blast or two in. Canyon is a great lake, but my nerves are shot from even getting to it trailering a boat to enjoy it much. Then there's the river......can't beat the river.......beleive me!

Yeah I had the same idea about modafying the front mount but Ray said it would be PITA. Send me a pic of the logs when you get a chance, would the snails I have work on the glenwood logs ?

Making a new front plate shouldn't be so bad. What's GOING to be the PITA is that the front mounts will not line up with the current holes for the feet on your stringers (SBC is quite a bit shorter OAL than a BBC). You'll have to dowel them and drill new ones further back on the stringers for the SBC, while keeping the engine angle and driveline angles correct........ 

GT can help ya there. He's got all the formula's and tricks up his sleeve to do it.

Yup! Fill up the higher (Left side as you're looking at it) 'til it comes out the other, then put the plugs back in. I use Lucas, but thats me.

Pretty much, YUP! The Casale (and the Nicson, and others for that matter) is an in/out of gear box, as I understand it. If you want reverse capability, and in a pleasure craft, not a race boat, I cannot imagine why you wouldn't, it's going to involve a transmission of some sort mounted on the engine on a V-Drive boat.

I've seen TH350's and 400's mounted, HDrider has a Powerglide, but many options are there. As Tom stated, the "velvet" drive is an expensive option, But a LOT depends on the length of the boat, where the V-Drive location is in relation to the engine, what degree the drive is......etc, etc, etc. as to what you can get away with.

A "whirl-a-way", and correct me if I'm wrong here guys, PLEASE. As I understand it, simply disconnects the engine from the propshaft when engine RPM's drop below prop-shaft RPM's. In other words, you lift, the prop shaft is disconnected (and how is beyond me, I would guess spring loaded pawls engaging an advanced loaded gear which would be VERY HP limiting) .

I know in HDRider's boat, 2nd gear on the Pglide is 1:1, so it runs just like his flatty was originally intended to. He only uses low gear in the NWZ. Dunno how reverse works for him, but IMO, as a safety/navigational feature, HAS to be worth something. Just my .02
