Heres some more pics (daylight), going out soon to pull the motor soon(sold it already ;D). I'm not sure what do do with the hull.  I bought it just for parts (pump and stuff), but Im kinda likeing the rounded deck  :-\.  This thing is verry small on int room compaired to my Lancer (same bottom).  Looks just like Jetaholics Marlin, except for the long area behind the motor ( would make this hull verry hard to get to the hand hole cleanout on the pump).  Anyway looks like I'll save the usefull parts and than break out the sawzall >:D.  The hull is in pretty bad shape, rotten floor (the entire area under the floor is full of water), badly deformed bottom, and about 10 different paint jobs.  Dont think its worth the work to save it.  Oh well looks like I'll have some more 455 parts to sell (mounts, logs snails, water pump plate, if anybody needs them  :-\

worst night racing hood blue up on 56 at 100+ couldn't see where Chev was at behind me wife has glass all over her and******** you know what felt like Ace Venter trying to roll down wind and stick head out window to see where the shit I was. must have been 300 cars out there that night even some on trailers  back out next week end to race.

That brings back memerys.  ::)  One night raceing my old 57 plymouth, the bedspread/seatcover came loose at about 90 and wraped around my head  ::),  Good thing that car always stoped straight.  Big sticky tires and a spool are for safety.  ;D  Yea,  it was ugly,  but FAST, and the rust made it lighter.  :o

How about the Gumball Rally?  I loved the footage of the Cobra and the Ferrari, and the guy on the Kawasaki was great.
My favorite movie !!   ;D ;D   The best line in the movie is "somethings get meaner as thay get older" (the Cobra).

If you watch the last Pirates of the Caribbean movie, I think I saw a SoCal Jet Boats sticker on the back of the Black Pearl. ;)

What length is yer Daytona? Offshore's 22 is in the mid 70's with a 250efi...That tunnel should CRUISE at 70! 65-70?! Plesh is drinkin' again! >:D
Boat is 21' light lay-up (it is only about 1/8'' thick by the fuel fillers). I havent seen another one like it, there was a thread on HB with lots of pics of Daytonas and mine looked to be different than the others.  Little 3/4 x 1 1/2 in stringers, 1/4 in supports under the bow for the deck, no supports on the sides.  It was built to be light.  With the exception of the 2 huge 23 gal fuel tanks .

The only info I was ever able to find on the motor was a verry old thread on S&F that said 300hp at 5200 rpm and 5500 rpm MAX.  So with the 1.6 to 1.7 gearing and the fact I cant turn the kind of rpm you guys can I should need a higher pitch prop, like 28 or more, right ?

props for that boat and motor are no longer available from any manufacturer

you should just sell it to me now and avoid the headache ;D >:D
Dream on !!  Its mine for LIFE  ;D ;D You will have to pry the key out of my cold dead hand  >:D!!  I aint  2 sav with new projects every month  ::) ;D

After the last polishing session its looking realy good !! And it has a steering wheel now, and the helm is mounted  :o. As well as new throttle cable and new shift cable .Thanks Tom / JBP  ;D

The stickers don't come until the Easter Bunny brings em. At least thats what I've heard. Probably explains why I don't have mine yet.

 I got a sticker.   :P  ;D

 Thanks guys,
So. I guess I will keep my eyes open for a 14.5 x 28 + .  ;)  ;D

I was maybe off a little  ;D  start with a 14.5 x 26 which should make the boat run about 65mph
If you go to a 14.5x28 should be like 70+

:o :o  65 / 70 mph !! WTF Im not trying to build a fishing boat here !!  If it wont break 80 Ill unbolt it and drop it in the fu##### lake !!  >:D

gears are 1.78 or 1.87

???  I dont think so, if I turn the flywheel by hand and mark the propshaft, it takes somewhere between 1.6 and 1.7 turns of the crank to equal one full turn of the propshaft.   I just went out and checked again, definitly less than 1 3/4 turns.

Oh yea...you can pm Brad to change yer name... ;D
Yea,  We'll see about that  >:( .   If this thing dosn't realy impress me, it (the motor) will get sold and the boat WILL get the BBF  :-* .   But Im trying realy hard to keep an open mind about this thing, and I will give it a chance. ::)

Warlock / bkplesh
Or anyone ealce that knows about outboards.  What size (diameter/pitch/number of blades) prop should I look for to use on my Daytona ?  It had no prop when I got it and the seller had no idea what had been on it.

I read bkplesh's post about props in the V drive section, but I dont have any numbers (speed/rpm) to start with.  So, I need a good starting point.  Heres what I know about the boat / motor ,  21ft Daytona (light lay-up),  old Merc black max 300hp motor 3.4L (5500rpm MAX, from what I was told ? ),  propshaft is 3 or 4 inches below the keel/center sponson (no low water pickup),  motor is set back 7 inches from the transome,  propshaft is 15 spline.

Other than that I have no idea  ???

$5 says he shows up at the Parker gathering with an outboard !  >:D  ;D
