We took it to the water last night but the 1150 wasnt quite enough. The plugs looked like a crack heads lips. Glad we didnt run to long, could have burnt a piston. Everything looks good so off to some bigger jets or possibly a bigger carb. Matt

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Re: E-85 conversion
« on: November 04, 2009, 11:42:51 AM »
We were thinking of running E85 also and some of the things i learned were:
#1  It uses a lot more fuel so its less fuel efficent.
#2  You have to have stainless steel gas tanks because E85 will eat and corode alluminum.
#3  All fuel lines and carb have to be empty or free of fuel because eat and corode parts.
#4  I have heard of people using it as a alterative to alcohol but IMO i dont think it as good as alcohol.

There were a few other things when i remember ill post them.  Matt

Sweet im down Bull. Can somebody tell me how the camping down there works? I see people have their campers and motorhomes down there, but do they charge you to stay there or do you have to rent a room? How much do they charge or is it free for racers. Someone please enlighten me. Matt

That was just an old seat i had put in there to figure out how long to make the steering colloum. Joey is making us a fiberglass hugger seat from an old Rudy Ramos mold. I will post  pics of it when we get it. Matt

Sweet float. I run a 79 20.5 Spectra with a bare bones 454. The twin turbo motor is going together right now for next summer. With the testing ive done on my boat ive got it just shy of 60 mph.
I lost the jc bowl and went with a dominator split with a droop and diverter. I tried a straight snoot with several different wedges but it rode better and was faster with the droop. I also put my own ride plate design on and gained about 6 mph. If you have any questions about your Spectra let me know. Matt

Heres a pic of the Spectra roostin on the back side of the sandbar in Havasu.

My buddy just picked up a 454 out of a truck, it lists as a 2 or 4 bolt main but since it came out of a 1 ton it should be a 4 bolt. In the next week or so im going to tear it down and check it out. The guy he bought it from said it was never rebuilt so everything should be standard, he also said it was a running motor. I guess the truck was wrecked. As soon as i tear it down ill let you know the details. Matt
