Well you wont believe this !!
The old 300 hp 2 smoker started today  :o !! After lots of tinkering and cleaning all the conections, it fired-up (in a HUGE cloud of smoke!!), ran a little rough then cleared out and even idled.  It sounds like a pack of dirt bikes  :(  and filled my entire backyard with smoke  >:( , but it runs .

That is a sweet boat , I should have bought it, but the fleet is getting a little large around here  ::), my jet boat in the garage (with the mustang and the bike and jetaholics motor) the Daytona on the side of the house behind jetaholics boat (the only time he will ever be in front of my boat  ;D).  Its starting to look like your shop around here  ;D ;D !

COIL COIL COIL!

Actually Its coil coil coil coil coil coil ! There are 6 of them  >:(.  But I dont think thats the problem, I think its the stator.  I have been back tracking the ignition from the coils , no power at the coils, no power at the switch boxes.  The switch boxes (as much as I can figure) are powered by the stator and take the signal from the crank triger thingy and up the voltage to power the coils, I think !  :-\

The good thing is I am learning new things (stators, switchboxs, crank trigers, multi coils) and I havent shocked myself yet.  ::)

I remembered last night that I know someone that works at a local OB shop  ::) so i called him today and he told me to LEAVE IT ALONE before I make it worse ( >:( No faith in my skills) .  He said to leave it with him and he would check it out in his spare time and let me know what the problem is.  ;D ;D

Just as a side note .
I never thought of this before, but because a two smoke has a power stroke every time the piston comes to tdc and a 4 stroke is every other time this thing (3.4 L   V6) has as many power strokes at an equal rpm as a 4 stroke V 12

And NOOO I'm not slipping away to the smokey side  >:(, just trying to get it to run so I can sell it (the motor not the boat).

Propless and I pulled the motor out last weekend, and there's quite a bit to be done before it goes back in. Because after some time behind the wheel of Propless's Mighty BBF I have learned that my old smoger BBC will never satisfy me again !!!!! So I'm going to switch to a SB Ford !  ;D ;D

This is what you should have said (the truth) !!   >:D ;D ;D
