The No Wake Zone / Re: Gas Prices
« on: October 16, 2013, 09:10:32 PM »
Ampm was $2.79 and next door the Mobil was $2.82. Not sure what's going on. But I'm not asking questions. It's in the Palm Desert area. For those that drive to Blythe. It's the cook st. exit

Not sure if this is the same around CA. But in my neighborhood gas fell off a cliff. Not complaining, but seeing if this is a trend going around.  Paid $2.79 tonight.

Jet Pumps / Re: berkly j/e Q/A
« on: October 16, 2013, 08:49:13 PM »
A "loose" pump will make you spin more RPM than it should. My Southwind 18 would spin 6000 rpms with a stock 460 ford with an A Imp, rebuilt the jet and it went down to 5100. Do you know where your motor makes peek HP? If you do then you can determine what cut impeller you need. I have a stainless b- for sale if you are interested.

Hulls / Re: How much to dump and where.....
« on: October 11, 2013, 05:26:31 PM »
So one of my '75 southwind hulls is cracked pretty good, about a 6 footer along the bottom, unfixable I think. So being that its taking up space on the property for more important things (other not running projects) haha I was thinking about taking it to the dump. Which one would be the best coming from Temecula and anyone know of a cost to dump it? There is tanks in it still, aluminum if anyone wants them. Ill grab some pics later tonight.
How bad is the crack? Photos? You could fix it. grind away the crack till its gone, then lay up new glass. ect. more easier said than done though.

Im not really searching for a place, kinda fell in my lap. If I could pick a place to be it would be big river... BUT this almost hidden beaches place sounds to good to be true.. Ive been to McIntire and I really liked it!!.. How much is a average price trailer to purchase at Mc Jake? And how much is the monthly bill?

Dude McIntyre is the shit. There are a few spots for sale ranging from 6,000 and Up. the bill is 280 i think plus electricity. Ill be going back this weekend, ill check on the board and see whats still up for ya.

Lots of sand bars up there. Its on the same stretch of river as McIntyre just way above the 10.  Its nice, but those 6th street boys don't get along with us Mc guys.  theres a few spots up for sale at mc sam for not a whole lot  ;D

The pros use a mock up block that connects to the jet with a pipe. From there you can make the measurements and and make the plates. In your case trimming is just fine.

Some examples below

1819
I am in the process of rigging my southwind v bottom, I have a 460 ford with motor plates and 2 1/2" rails on the stringers mounted 1/4" from the top. I also have the pump sitting in the boat, the centerline of the pump shaft and crankshaft are 5" apart with the engine being higher. I have 6" of oil pan clearance, should I lower the rails on the stringers or trim the motor plates to lower the engine? I can only trim 3" from the rear plate before I run into the starter cutout.

Trim the motor plates to fit. Make sure you have enough angle in the drive line as well. You don't want it just straight, its its straight it will blow it apart.

There were a few that popped up this summer. They are hard to find in great shape. Mine was trashed when I got it. Good luck with your search bud.
