 LOL, I actually haven't touched it, I've been kinda lazy about it.  Its cold out there in the garage. 

 I decided to start with the keel mods first. 

 I stripped it down to glass to get it ready for the work.



 Then it was cuttin time.  Took me a long time actually get up the nerve to do this.  But I figure this stupid old pile of junk was hanging on to edge of a dumpster with one finger when I found it, so I might as well get creative with it.
 I cut along the sides of the center pod and wedged the back down to create a straight keel line.  I spent a few days looking at it, and measuring everything 10 times until I was happy with it.  I also filled the old intake mounting holes from the bottom, got rid of the recess for the factory ride plate and did a little glass work on the area that I filled in for the pump set back.


 
 Then I put a couple layers of glass on it to hold it together.  Now I can pull the wood I used to hold it in place out of there and start glassin and grindin till its built back up to the right thickness and straight again.



 Thats where I'm at for now, its out in the garage with a heater under it to help the glass set up nice.   Once I get it built back up to be strong again  I can put a rounded shape under there for a round keel intake.   Then its on to the sponsons issues.   

 
 

Ok,  lots of updates to do here.   

 I got all the wood out from under the underside of the deck, what a pain in the azz that was.


 Heres the pile of "extra" wood that came out.


 Once all the mess was out from inside I decided to flip the hull to take care of its major glass work before going any farther.   Theres just something not quite right about seeing your boat hanging upside down in the air. 


 Back on the dolly and ready for some BIG changes. 


 

How did you modify the cleanout plug so it fit so well?

Is it still removeable?

When I was overhauling my boat, I had second thoughts about finishing it too.

It seemed like everytime I turned around another problem would surface.

Keep at it and you will have a new boat when you are done.

 Actually that was a pain in the azz.  But yea its still removable.  Inside the housing there is an alignment bump on one side (so you dont put the cover in backwards  ) . That had to be removed, I ground it off so the opening was completely round to start.  Then I roughed up the sides of the cover and drilled about 8 small holes in the bottom sides and taped in some brass rods so it looked a bit like a porcupine.  I cut the rods so they where about a 1/8" from the walls of the housing when the cover was in place.  The idea of the rods was to hold the epoxy in place if it ever came loose from the cover and tried to fall into the pump.  Then I wrapped the sides of the housing with aluminum foil,  bolted the cover in place,  and filled the void with epoxy.  Once it was setup it slid right out.  It took ALOT of sanding and filling to get it right, but it got there.   

 Later I discovered that I could have bought a cover like that (tight fitting).  Tom a JetBoatPerformance had them in stock.    Live and learn. 

I've been neglecting this thread, sorry. 

 I have been working on it.  But it has been fighting back every chance it gets.   

 I went to fill the old holes in the stringers and ran straight into a nightmare.  Even though they looked good, and sounded good when you tapped on them.  The glass was not bonded to the wood anymore.   I got mad a did a quick cut along the bottom edges and all he glass lifted right off like a taco shell.     One side came off complete in a 12' length.


  Then I smacked on the stringers with a hammer, and they fell over.  Heres all the glass of the stringers, and the stringers.   


 So I started stripping the tops of the tunnels down to wood so I could set new stringers in there. 



 I got all the way done with one side and about 3/4 done with the other when I found another issue.  Part of the plywood was separating.   There was a split under where the stringer was and the glass was ripping the top layer of wood off the ply. 
 So as of today,  ALL the plywood has been removed from the hull.  It is a bare fiberglass shell now except for 2 gunnel supports, and the section on the under side of the deck, but that is coming out too.

 The good news is, I dont think theres anywhere on this thing where any more issues can be hiding.     And I will get to learn a lot of new skills, like laminating a core back into a floor, and setting stringers, and glassing over new stringers, and flow coating, etc, etc, etc. 

 This is going to be a LONG, EXPENSIVE project.   

The SST is NOT yours! Storage only if we get to that point!

Well you guys will probably see a new build thread for this thing soon.  Its on its way to the North West Rainforest tonight, Jrork is its new owner.  He picked it up tonight and is on his way home with his new toy, so if anyone between Fresno Ca and Washington sees him, moon him. 

Second - The google member map that is on this site (not available via Tapatalk) has nothing to do with tracking your IP or GPS. It is something you have to manually put. I dont want to discourage anyone from using it, but use it with caution. If you notice, my location is in the middle of the 215/15 interchange. I dont put it on top of my house. Also, I really doubt anyones casing this site for boats to steal. Yes its possible, but highly unlikely.

 Thats A good idea Brad, I just put mine back up (I think) but moved it the middle of the nearest major cross streets.  Yea, my dumb azz had it right on top of my house.   

At this point it would be a good idea to go ahead and give everything a once over.  Cant hurt to check it out, just to be sure.

Thats normal NoRestraint, it will rev to whatever when its out of the water, no load on the motor.  Kinda like revving a car in neutral.

X2   I need a new project and Jan says she wants something like a 21' tunnel to give us more room.......................

    And what makes you think theres more room in one of these ?  Heck the deck is 11' long.   Interior measurements are 9' long and 58" wide.  Walking room is the real issue though, those tunnels really take up a lot of floor space.  Your kinda limited to a small walking trail down the center, or walking on the seats.
