Not far from the Mcintyre Guys (mob), on the AZ side, 25K, you say? What's there to think about????

My .02. Those selector valves do not flow enough for todays higher HP engines. The holes are very small. I had one on my Nordic when I got it in basket case form and was the first thing to get tossed.
T.J.

Thank you TJ for that. Even though what YOU perceive as a higher HP engine is off the charts for the rest of us, it does make my point.

Altrhough, Moo seems fine with it as far as supply. I will give the system that. But Moo is at least 400HP from where you're at!

your still over thinking it!!!!! fuel will be coming out of seperator, and going to regulator where it will be directed to the front and rear bowl, and the leftover besides running a ton of line back to the tank you just dump it back into the fuel filter because you have a provision there to do it...it has nothing to due with double filtering or anything like that! you will have 2 inlets, and only one outlet!

Yeah, I'm over thinking it. You're right lil bro, BUT, think about this. Both inbound lines will, under pressure, be drawing from the tanks indescriminately. The outbound line going to the carb/FI, is fine, the return line dumping same fuel back in. Where I think we fail to communicate is, WHERE does the return pressure go? Without a return line, it goes BACK into the system, so wheres the excess pressure and fuel go?  This is where the back pressure of the electric causes issues to me.

I'm just thinking out loud, and I get it, your putting filtered fuel back in there in the mix, I'm just not sure I would do it, is all.  Marc has had good luck doing it, so must be ok, I'm just over cautious and over thinking things.

In a way, thinking about it, seems like a constant filtration, but I would be concerned about reintroducing water or contaminents to the tank plumbed that way. Seems to me a whirlpool effect in the separator pumping fuel back in the filtered fuel side. Just me maybe. Should be fine, just not optimal, IMHO.

FPR with return...i am going to run the return back into the fuel water seperator....because the fuel/water seperator has 2 inlets and 2 outlets...figured that would be a good place to put it!

I don't think I'd do that lil bro. Run the returns right back to the tanks. Reason being, I think your water separators ports are for dual fuel inlets/outlets. You're gonna defeat the purpose here, not double filter the fuel.

Nope. Came on the boat. But Nordie tells me it's the same thing as a Ford truck tank selector from the late 70's early 80's. I was gonna drop one in the Pickle, but seemed redundant as there's no way to add senders to either of those tanks. they had to be forced back in place as it was, by two of us. Lending to, this boat is a "Streaker hybrid" of some sort... (seen two  more, one right beside mine at Bartlett. Both of them were 1/4 stringer with a full floor. Mine is full stringer, no floor.) One guy at Sag this past weekend said the bottom looked like an SST, which I originally thought it was. Who knows. Could be anything I guess. But off the subject.

On Moo, it works well. I really like it. But.......

Taking the liberty of my opinion here, I would not run a selector valve at all. One fuel guage and a switch to read each tank. I think the valve limits flow, to a degree, on these lil boats. Funny all this comes up as I'm thinking about this twin jet deal and it's fuels system. Typically, I'll run Moo's one tank, with the guage, to half, then switch it over.

My concern is the weight balance, and handling/safety, as you run one tank dry, VS running off both together. Not a huge deal on our 10-15 gallon tanks, BIG deal on a big boat with 40 gallons on a side, for one. But as Brad, Ron, Nick and the rest of the racers can tell you, even the slightest change in weight transfer can make a huge handling difference at speed. These guys run T-tanks, go figure.

Theres my .02 and my novel for the day.

Ray

Nordie, you realize you WILL need a pressure regulator, don't you?

Nah, he dun hafta, just needs to drive faster.............to outrun the flame......... :screwy:

The switch, itself, is simply a douple pole, double throw toggle on the dash. I'll post pics of the unit that actually does the switching. The tanks both have senders, though the starboard side doesn't work (just a wiring issue to that tank, I Know cuz the wire is just hangin out there on the tank), and once in a while the port side chooses not to work. I haven't let it bother me, as only once did I come close to running Moo damn near empty, (she holds almost 30 gallons) and that was a LOT of hard running on twin 750's.

Ray

2237
Running both might be a good idea if you were running a blown/injected alcohol deal. Even then, I'm told twin electrics are the shizzle. One as a transfer from the main tanks to the reservior tank. On a lake boat? Personally, spend the buck and a quarter or so on a Clay Smith mechanical and be done with it.

I'd do it on the Sewer Pickle, but the mechanical eccentric drive was never installed when the engine was built making going back a lil more tedious........ :screwy:

I run a tank switch on Moo, with a fuel guage. I really like that. Pickle has no guages or switches at all. Runs them both together. hasn't been an issue yet, but it could be sometime, I suppose. i was gonna change it, but heck, most I've done is waste 3/4 of both 11 gallon tanks and that was pretty hard to do.

That one came on the boat, but when I contacted Roger last spring for a windsheild for my old Beisemeyer it was pretty reasonable. Around $300 if I remember right.

Lots, actually. I guess maybe I should post pics up as I go. I was kinda reserving things to make it shorter than a 2Sav build......

Will post these. Sent the Intakes off to Nick (CJ222) and got them back with some bitchen race loaders he made for them. He consulted with harold bruce and a few others building them, BUT, if any of you EVER attempt anything like this, I think Nick can blow the dust off the jigs to make 'em.

Was gonna just go with the paint on it. But with what's involved, we've committed to a complete new gel coat that I'm still working on what it should look like. As well as trailer rehab, etc, etc. Dave still doesn't have the engines to build, so we're a long way off from this hitting the water.

I was kinda set aback by a similar build of the same hull over on PB that set the bar far higher than I was gonna go. I wouldn't be doing the SCJB crew any justice unless I did this thing at least on par with that. Lets just hope I can afford it......... :screwy:
