Heads off. They look good. Pistons look good. Cylinders don't look bad, they'll make it until the end of the season. Freeze plugs are out and holy shit, there was some crap in there. I guess I should have expected that considering the condition of the pump that was in it. All cleaned out now. Now to see if I can figure the compression ratio in this motor based in piston numbers.

It's happening. Between beer runs and cigarettes it's actually going pretty quick. Pick up the gaskets tomorrow morning and should be running tomorrow afternoon.

Headed back to town on another parts run. New freeze plug and spark plugs. Should be good to go as soon a we get back. Surprised the olds is still going. Had the headers glowing red on the run back down.
Met some more members and saw a few that I already met. The group keeps getting better. Jim, Nick, and whoever else I met that I can't remember. Dennis and Chausa, thanks for the offered help and enjoyed having some beers.
We should be headed back up river around noon we think.

Yeah, would have been nice to have been able to just pull it on the trailer, wasn't that easy. Took 2 CHP officers, 2 tow truck drivers, Johnny, and myself. It was quite the chore but we got it on without any damage to the bottom, just a little scratching on the bow that I'm sure I can wet sand off.

Thank you for all the kind words. The boat has been in the water since last night and was still floating when I got up this morning so that's a good thing. Going to mess with a fuel pressure issue and then just run her. We don't have shit for service out there, so my phone is always on airplane mode. We are in town now getting some parts and other random stuff. Will be here for an hour or so. Shouod be heading up river a little later.

That's me. Left front blew and jerked the truck hard to the left. I tried to correct but the back end came around and it went into the center divider. Rolled 1 or 2 times. I don't remember, whole truck was full of sand. Somehow the trailer was 20 feet farther facing the opposite direction and the boat was another 40 ft away facing back the way we came. Got it on the trailer after about 4 hours and we are finally almost to the house. Boat will be in the water tomorrow.

I was told running it out of water is a no no. For what my pump is it will not be ran out of water. It takes me maybe 10-15 minutes to unbolt the pump from the engine, easy enough for me.

« on: September 01, 2015, 12:03:15 PM »This is the main reason for the studs. They will have to be somewhat rolled to meet the flange of the droop, is difficult to do that with bolts without jacking the threads in the bowl.
The holes in the wedges are typically either drilled straight one way, or oversized to make fitment easier.

Here's probably a stupid question, how does the droop fit over the studs with a wedge? Mine is pretty tight on there as is and doesn't seem like it would fit at that angle.

Mine are a dull aluminum and the mothers I use for the cast alum. scratches the finish. Trying to get them cleaned up.
My neighbor has a bench grinder with some polishing wheels on it. He has these green bars that you put polish onto the wheels and it works pretty damn good. Did my tunnel ram with it and my friend did his headers too. He is a metal fabricator for boats and builds towers and rod holders. He has to polish all the aluminum and stainless and that's what he uses so I just go with it.
