Damn... I just read this post.  Glad you and your family came out alright.  At least you can laugh at yourself.  Good luck on the fix.

If you can hoist your boat into the water instead of the launch ramp you can alleviate problems with salt on the trailer.  If not, just be sure to rinse everything as much as possible.  A good trick is to fog everything with WD40, this will put a barrier between the salt and metal.  After your done for the day, wash, wash, wash -and flush your engine for several minutes with the hose (this can lead to another debate .)  Most of your materials coming in light contact with the salt water will not be affected by a quick dip in the ocean like the hull, vinyl, carpet, stainless, etc.  Several people are of the opinion that the ocean is the devil, but growing up on the water I guess I am more forgiving.  Over time salt will rot away some of the elements; however, with proper care this can be delayed or nearly avoided.  The big blue has a lot to offer boaters -is unfortunate for some that they will never capitalize on it.

Thanks for all the info... I'll have to plan a weekend out there this summer.  But holy freakin' shiot batman - 120 degrees!  Maybe a bit later in the summer when it cools off some.  It would be great to meet up with some of the folks on the board - someone to show the spots there.  An inside connection always makes a much nicer trip (and safer.)

OTL on fiesta is great.... Just pack up couple hundred jello shots and "this ass" thread will be full in no time.  a-hem, not that I haven't done that with the boys when they wifey was out of town

Sunday should be a good day to check out El Cap.  I believe the North Arm is open for watersports on Sunday, so it should offer much more area to ski in.  I was there a couple of weeks ago an towed skiiers mid-day and it was fine, not glass, but fine to ski.  In the AM you will have a blast, esp. up the arm.  It's $5 for your boat and $5 per person to enter the lake.  I usually get there later in the day and have never had a problem getting on.  It's a bit off the beaten track so anything you need you'll want to pack it with you (about 15 minutes once you turn past the am/pm.)   It's a fun local lake and the guys that work there are great.  You can hit them up for any questions once you get in.  An added bonus is that lake lice (jet skis) are forced to use a separate area.  I may go to El Cap or San V (just up the road from there) tomorrow.  If you see my boat feel free to stop on by.  Anyone else going to be there???

BTW, if you see Chaz, watch out for him.  Or better yet just stay away from his straightest line to shore (sorry Chaz couldn't pass that up.)
