Get an inboard............V-driveWhy would I want to go lowwer? The boat run great. just don't like how it sits in the water. It is one of the funniet boats I've owned. And I've alot. v-drive,i/o,jet.single outboard and twins. tunnel v's and flats

It might be easier to set that buggy up with a chebby small block, but obviously I'd prefer the Ford.Thanx for the info
If you looked closely at the details of both of the engines' internals side-by-side, you'd probably make the same choice. I think it would be easier to get the desired HP from the factory Ford parts. Aluminum heads will make it a toss-up power-wise, although I'd still prefer the Ford's shortblock.
Generally, Ford's offering is just better, design-wise; why do you think that Ford designed both of these smallblocks in question and then unloaded the eco motor to GM's chebby division?
