Random Boat Parts For Sale / What type of carb to run on a 460 Ford
« on: March 06, 2013, 10:09:35 AM »
What's up everyone this is my first post I recently bought a 1976 Pioneer with Berkley 12JG pump and a 460 ford.... I know Chevy kid ford motor
lol....Anyways my question is what type of carb should b on this boat? there's a 600 Holley on it now and I'm having issues had a friends Dad rebuild it for me .. Started up and ran fine when I got it back, but I put a flame arrestor on yesterday and tried firing her up ran for a couple secs. And died. So fired back up and kept on the gas just a ill to keep it running thinking maybe it would warm up but it just died .During all this it back fired I'm wondering if the power valve is shot?also wondering if its a marine grade carb? And do I have to have to have a marine grade carb? And my last question ..Is this carb to small for a 460? I have read not to use anything smaller then an 850 I'm pretty green when it comes to carbs/engines just trying to learn & get this boat on the water soon it's been one thing after another .Would appreciate any help thanks.
