When I bought my boat, 2 freeze plugs were laying in the bilge area. Boat was sitting for over 10 years.

Thought about just replacing the 2, since the others looked ok, but ended up replacing them all. It was cheap insurance and a great peace of mind.

Never heard of anyone getting hassled over open headers at Elsinore. If you do, just drive to the next ramp and try again, but doubt you'd have a problem in the first place.

Haha, yeah it is nice. It's bitchin to have your own sandy beach, camp on the water and not deal with launch ramps on a Holiday weekend. He keeps it locked down with family/friends only though otherwise I'd be inviting everyone over haha.

Last weekend my boat developed a random misfire, usually under a load above 3500 RPMs. Went through it all, pulling plugs, wires, distributor, etc. All looked good until I looked at the plugs closely. Cylinder #6 had a hairline crack in the porcelain. Further inspection found where the spark was leeching out from the wire boot. Threw in new plugs and wires last night and pretty confident she'll be back to running bitchin' this weekend.

Agree.

You have to figure, the engine is running in a high moisture area with low running temperatures. Every time you turn the engine off and it "cools" it draws in surrounding moisture and the condensation will form like what you have. I have fought similar conditions WITH engines throughout the years and have learned that some do it, some don't, and to just keep an eye on engine oil level/condition.

Water in valve covers with no increase in oil level. Run it. If it's filling up the pan, you got a problem.  :thumbup:

Cool little boat, just got done going through the entire thing. New plumbing, wiring, cables, alternator, starter, distributor, rebuilt jet with roughly 4 hours on it. Boat is 100% turn key, have had it out every weekend since completing it and haven't had any issues. 20 gallon bow tank, 455 olds runs strong and fires right up. Good for an honest 55mph on GPS. Trailer has new bearings, seals, wheels and tires as of this year. Not a beautiful show boat, but looks good for it's age and is reliable.

Not in a hurry to sell it because it's a solid ride, but would like to move into something bigger.

Looking for $4,000. Have titles in hand for boat/trailer. Includes annual lake pass for Elsinore.

Only reason I say that is I just got a similar boat from my uncle and that's what it was identified as. Backs a little different, but where your arm goes and the slanted down bow it has a lot of the same features judging by photos.

Last trip out to Laughlin we went from there to Havasu. Once we touched the lake we felt like a very small fish in a giant pond with all the big boats racing by, giant wakes and knowing that it can get extremely rough out there.

If I were to launch out of Havasu, I'd B-line it as close to the shore as possible and get back into the river where the water stays a bit smoother. We had the most fun inbetween the sandbar, through Topock and into Needles.

Usually out there around 10 or 11. Get kind of spoiled/lazy having the lake 10 minutes away from house to buddies house on the water.
