Don't even want to take the boat out! What y'all think?

River was good, feel bad for those boat owners that have inboards, a bunch of chewed up props.

If the Olds is running good, fix your hull. Make sure your pump is good.
How is the roost now? It should put up a descent one. But, there is more to jet boating than a rooster tail.

Taking her out to the Avi this weekend for a first cruise on the River, just got her last weekend.

Do you need to rebuild it? Are you looking for a boat and want to know if you should buy one with an Olds?

An Olds can be a great, reliable motor. They just have limitations for hi performance. If you want to build it for performance,
they need a lot of modifications and will still have limits compared to Chevys and Fords. They weren't meant to be run at hi RPM's
for a long time.

Will this thing shoot up a decent rooster? Wondering if i should sell my olds and build another over the winter or Re-due my hull and paint.

What's your thoughts and experience with the 455 olds motor? (Why do people say to avoid this motor? Stick with ford or Chevy).

X2 stay with the olds the more the better. We can beat all the other guys with our 455. Beat I mean how many boats have 455 in them not racing them. Just out to have fun and not break down all the time.

It doesn't need to be out of gas do one filter at a time. Crimp the hose by the filter the gas flow will stop. Then take the filter apart. Put some fuel in a small bucket then rinse the filter out. Put the filter back together then do the next one the same way till all three are clean. Then take some rubbing alcohol and dump about one or two bottles in the gas fuel tank.Per how many gallons u have on the boat for example one 20 gallon tank put in one bottle. 2 tanks put one bottle in each tank. This will dissolve the water in the tank. Also make sure u shake the boat so that the alcohol mixes with the fuel. Then run the boat on the trailer with water hooked up to the motor.

If i had to quess id say you had water in your fuel , clean those filters, those are not throw a ways.

How do I clean the filters? Do I need to run the gas out first?

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / 455 Olds Question
« on: September 02, 2013, 10:55:33 AM »
On Saturday I took her out to Elsinore. She ran fine, when I parked at the cove for about 45 minutes she wouldn't start. The starter was turning but the motor sounded like it wasn't getting gas. I floored the pedal and started her and she started popping.  I adjusted the idle screw, floored the pedal and after 10+ popping key turns she kicked over. What could this be?never had this problem before.

I was at Elsinore today, weather was great but the lake has recently been drained. The cove is the best place to be. The launches suck unless you have 4x4.
