Boats For Sale / Re: Southwind tunnel
« on: December 14, 2013, 10:11:15 AM »

I love mine, there's no better ride than a tunnel.... Or in this case a modified v bottom lol. I've ran mine on the river with the girlfriend for the past 2 years. No problems. They are a great boat. They are normally on the heavy side. 500-800lbs bare. Just takes a bit more HP to get them to run the #. Southwind sal and Austin cole are running somewhere in the 9's with 800+hp

Saw this over on Performance boats this afternoon. Awesome deal if somebody is looking for a SWTD

wow. Almost seems too good to be true. As an owner of one yourself. How do you feel these boats do as an all around hull? Not just for drag racing but for lake/river play as well

« on: November 26, 2013, 07:20:31 PM »

It's hardly a "memorial" anymore.
Just another excuse to run into jerks offs you don't want to meet anyways.
I'd rather sit in one of Tom Papps friends garages and listen to THEM tell me stories about their friend.

your opinions are your opinions. Certainly not facts. I do happen to have quite a bit of knowledge on this. In fact enough to know when it's not even worth posting anymore on the subject. This isn't even what the thread was about anyways... So it is what it is. But not worth even going back and forth over anymore bc it's all talk at this point.

Who said Berkeley?, Not me... And yes they do.

Anytime two pieces of equipment are compared you have to go apple for apple, not pineapple to summer squash....

The similarities of the two, even a Berkeley are strikingly similar, the difference is literally much less than 100 RPM cut for cut.

My first race pump, while this was quite some time ago, had an Aggressor 9 vane bowl and an Aggressor Mag/Bronze A cut, when we broke the living snot out of the impeller because of eating a MLB regulation sized piece of cobble, I installed a detailed A cut Berkeley aluminum and was back in the water later the same day, the boats performance was nearly identical, there was a slight rise in WOT RPM (negligible), but that could have been due to a loader that was slightly different because we broke the previous one clean off. Speed was within a mile or two.

You have some bad info IMHO.

Do you care to expand on how a Mag/bronze and an aluminum impeller of the same cut are, as you say "completely different", because they are NOT.

I would describe them as "extremely similar"....

GT
so in your opinion an alluminum Berkeley A. Impeller spins the same rpm as say a bronze aggressor impeller? Same application...

Care to expand on this?

Curious as hell where this goes.
curious of what? The difference between aluminum and bronze? I'm confused.

Your definitely not alone, I didn't want to pile on.  You looked like you had it covered.  ;) There's definitely something in the math that doesn't add up.  My dyno sheet says I make 825 HP and I'm spinning a bronze A 61-6200 rpm.  Loader, shoe, ride plate.  Looks like that chart fits my set damn close.
i have an aluminum A bronze A and aluminum A are completely different.

You're entitled to your opinion and we know you definitely have one. Look all I was saying were facts of big blocks over small blocks. If you want to call bs I suggest less talking and we can meet at the lake and ill show you. I'm not one to get caught up in key board racing or arguing on these forums. Just thought I'd bring up valid points on this question that was asked. If you don't think my motor produced enough power to push a "healthy" A impeller pump to 6400 then I guess you must be right and I obviously don't know what I'm doing... But hey I'm not loosing sleep over your opinions...
